'15 MD OT Pat Allen

I get what you are saying but they hadn't been doing S&C like they were supposed to for 4 years. I heard on one of the College game day shows last year that AJ McCarron could squat 600 lbs. Don't think he would have been a very good lineman.

I see you point.. However McCarron was not asked to drive the person in front of him back..

Hypothetically what would happen if we can't land Allen or St. Louis? Anyone else we could get for an OT?

I hope we don't take someone just to have a warm body at tackle. We need quality depth. If we can't land on of these two or someone else of the same caliber, I hope we pass and make OT a priority in 2016.

Whether it's fair or not, I'm sure opposing teams are saying, "look at Sanders and Blair, two highly rated and sought after OL that UT has squandered. You want to be the next?"

That's the only reason I can think of for Why LTs aren't lining up for a wide open 2 deep.

Possibly but what comes to mind immediately is Blair hasn't even hit the field technically yet and lets give Sanders some time...but you could???? have a point...

I've said for awhile (and been attacked for saying it) that Jones needs wins. He needs to have on the field progress or else opposing coaches will have all sorts of negative recruiting angles to hit him with. That's why I simply don't believe that Jones or any other HC can be given 4, 5, or even 6 years as some have suggested before being expected to make significant improvement.

If I were in their shoes I would compare UT's OL against Iowa back to Vandy as evidence of improvement. I would also sell that UT is "a LT away" from being a contender in the SEC East.

We were a fumbled handoff in our end zone (vs UGA), a fumbled blind side sack (vs Gators) and a rape allegation (vs Missouri) away from a 10-3 season. 8 wins next year is the floor. Here's a preemptive "it's good to be back"..

I have to be honest. I am not that impressed with CBJ ability to recruit offensive lineman.

Obligatory dumb post is dumb.

Like it or not JJ is the 13th ranked OT this cycle, and has proven he is a tackle and not a guard.

He pulled Blair, JUCO players need conditioning, 1 JUCO lineman started for his team this year.

We are well in the hunt for Allen and TSL.

Boulware is also in the top 50 of OT.

Considering how well CBJ has recruited to date, an 8-win season next year could generate a #1 recruiting class. :)

I think you may have been being facetious but that's absolutely not out of the realm of possibilities. Eight wins with only close losses- he could very much sell that UT was on the way to the top.

I was. But, stranger things have happened. I believe Alabama's 2008 class was ranked #1 by Rivals after they had finished the previous season with a 7 - 6 record.

Don't disagree. However, if they come together and dominate in most games next season the perception in the recruiting world will change. I have to think adding Kamara with Hurd will improve the perception, especially if Blair steps up and gets it done.

Alabama is in a different world, for recruiting.

If we top them, in their current form, then my mind will blow

No theyre not. When you're in the top five you are getting very similar talent. We have recruited with them the past two years. Now if you're outside tip five, then I think the huge difference appears.

My lingering doubts about Jones and his staff relate to the OL and gameday coaching. However, Jones is probably the best salesman I have seen in several years of watching recruiting. Frankly, he's a better salesman than Saban or Miles or Richt. I previously would have called them the best recruiting salesman in the SEC if not the country.

Losing Koehler and Skipper (Kirkland too) to ARK hurt. Signing one or both Allen and St. Louis would help ease my (oline evaluation and recruiting) doubt
