It's a bad idea to bring this kid back around our recruits. You can always chase that one sexy girl forever, but once she's done you wrong, you learn to chase very cautiously. What's this kid need to see more of here anyways? He's visited here a ton already. If he wants to be a VFL, then he should pick the phone up and speak to Butch about the matter. I'm 120% positive he has his number.

I also feel it's a bad idea to trust this kid's word. If he says I'm going to flip then switches his mind again come NSD, it could really screw us with Allen/St.Louis. At this point, I'd take Allen or St. Louis over Richmond. If Richmond wanted to be here, I'd tell him we'd always have a spot for him in this class but his commitment would not prevent us from signing Allen/St.Louis. If he did want to commit, I'd make him keep it quite until NSD. This would give us the best chance to land Allen/St.Louis just in case Richmond changed his mind. It'd also prevent us from leaving NSD without a true LT outside maybe Hall.

Was it written somewhere or stated by someone legit that he was on campus recruiting for OlePiss? I missed it if so.

Guy with apparent connections to Ryan Newsome called in to I think Swain's show and said Richmond was recruiting Newsome to OleMiss when they were both visiting UT in the fall. Not sure if anybody substantiated his information at any point. Seems most, me included, give the story validity given how the staff seemed to very much cool on him right after and given Richmond's social media interactions soon after.

At the end of the day, I say we wipe our hands of the kid and go hard at Allen and St Louis given that they seem to be showing legit interest and not constantly stringing us along like Drew has the last year.

That's the most accurate portrayal of what happened. I'm sure the staff knows whether this happened or not and if so then I understand them not recruiting him further BUT I have a problem with passing this off as fact when it was some caller on a radio show that started this rumor. In any case I think it's unlikely that Drew ends up at UT. Bama may make a late push.

All things considered with Richmond, him not really having a good showing at the all american game (you can say that people don't put too much stock in these games however Kyle Phillips--exactly), also that he has recruited for Ole Miss WHILE VISITING UT.. Give me Pat Allen and call it a day. I wouldn't waste one more minute of time on this kid.

He obviously sees all his instate friends going to UT and he may very well want to reconsider but he had his chance.. Had months of our coaches catering to only him and he blew it. Move on.

I would let him visit. I would just be sure it is when no other recruits are on campus.

This... agree that if he truly wants to visit again, simply give him a time when no other recruits are there, should be fairly easy to make happen. If he bites and takes the visit, then he truly may be reconsidering. The coaches should be hip to his jive by now, so we should leave it up to them...

How do you know he recruited while he was on a visit here? All I've heard was that a random unidentified caller called into a radio show and made this claim. Surely that's not what your going by.

There was way more to it than that, and the coaches pretty much stopped buying into his crap after that visit. Also, quite a few players that I know personally said they overheard him dealing shady business.

He was actively recruiting not only Newsome, but also Kirkland to OM. Now that all his buddies are here and Ugo is at LSU he probably feels left out in the cold. It's a business move, it's stupid to make a huge investment in something when there is no guaranteed return. Coaches have learned from this once, I doubt they make the same mistake twice especially given that we are close to locking up Allen.

VN Recruiting Rule #5 - Whenever a committed recruit is on UT campus and doesn't flip his commitment to UT he is recruiting for the other school.
These arent hard rules to remember !

While I agree with you, we are far from close to locking up Allen. I still think Georgia is the team to beat and I believe he will sign with them when signing day rolls around.

Even if he signs with us, this one is still wide open between the good guys and the buttsniffers.

I'd really like to see us get St. Louis. He made a splash at the UA practices and sounded better than Richmond from what was reported.

If he wants back in you take him all day especially with Allen getting cold feet and Boulware taking a visit to Ohio state.

I really like Boulware but if there is a spot to free up it would be his. We have security guards, honor guards, we got the national guard, we got right guards and left guards. We got plenty of damn guards.
