Holy ratings mismatch for Bussey. A top 100 player on Rivals and a 3* on 247Sports.

In this case, Rivals is clearly the superior recruiting service.

I agree, Offer list is nice though

Texas A&M
Tennessee
USC
Nebraska
Arkansas
Mizzou
Notre Dame
Arizona State
Among others.

We currently have 12 minimum 4-star players on Rivals for 2015.

That number could grow to 18-19, IMO.

Abernathy and Ford are prime candidates to get bumped to 4*s. That's 14.

Plus, we're still in it for Phillips, Amadi, Sapp, Jones, Love, and Martin

Obviously we won't land all of them and we may even lose a few 4*s in the process. But I think a final tally of around 18-19 is very attainable.

This class may very well be better than the 2014 class. And 2016 could top all of them.

Penalty issues with Ray somewhat concern me.

There's stupid penalties and then there are penalties thrown for being aggressive and having a high motor--think of it like an Albert Haynesworth-type penalty versus a Kyle Vanden Bosch-type penalty (or Cortland Finnegan even).

I love players like KVB and Finny. They were like the energizer bunny of the team. It might have gotten them in trouble a time or two (or three, for Finnegan) but they lead the team because of the fire they played with...especially KVB. You didn't F with that dude.

I'm not saying that Ray is as skilled but, I'd definitely say Ray is in the latter category. I like an aggressive player with a high-motor, as long as they're smart enough to be able to conceal it enough to get away with it.

Maybe that's a trait that has to be learned in the NFL, I dunno, but I like the way Ray plays. He's all over the field and always around the ball. The Titans desperately need that...

Bussey dominated at two different Rivals camps in the summer. I don't know how many he did for 247, if any. Woody and the Rivals guys are confident they have seen more of him than any other service.

Cool that by beating Texas A&M for Bussey we will pass them on rivals to move to number 5.
Also they are in meltdown mode and some already want Sumlin gone haha

Right, but Hall also just played 11 plus a bowl his freshman year (well, pretty much all teams did prior to 2006).

What's your point here? Are you saying that even though Medley has a higher percentage his freshman year than Hall did, that it doesn't matter because Medley was given an unfair advantage because of one extra game? Would you rather our past greats always out perform our current starters or? Just trying to wrap my head around the point you're making by bringing that up

Now worrying about the situation in our secondary. Martin thread dropping bombs. He was a silent commit to us until recently, and now LSU is his leader. We better get Amadi....

Nationdum and westside are very confused by this information. :)

Apparently Texas A&M could have named Durkin their DC on Wednesday, but Sumlin wanted to see if he could get Chavis first. Obviously this didn't happen. In the process, he made the Jefferson kid (5* who committed to Texas today) mad, seeing it as a trust issue because Sumlin couldn't tell him who the new DC would be. When they didn't get Jefferson, Mack (5* DT) decided he would decommitt from A&M as well.

All this was in the update from their 247 writer a few minutes ago. Whew.

Amazing. Everyone wished they had Sumlin three years ago. Amazing how times change.

The SEC is a tough league. It chews coaches up and spits them out.

May not be all that new let alone something coaches haven't accounted for. This article is from May and check out this is a very telling quote:

Asked who else he’d be interested in hearing from, Martin had one specific school in mind.

“I like LSU,” he said. “That’s just a school I’ve liked since I was little but really just any big time schools.”

And another telling quote:

But Martin went unrecruited because of academic concerns.

That is about to change.

Martin decided to get his GED following the first semester of his senior year and enroll early in a junior college. Now, he’s at Northeast Oklahoma A&M in Miami, Okla. and he’s on pace to be eligible for major college football following the spring of 2015.

Honestly, we may be in on someone else like Amadi. If he had academic concerns in HS that were bad enough for him to go unrecruited and choose to get a GED early (which to me indicates he had a snowballs chance in hell of graduating HS) despite being one of the best in the state at a position all teams covet then I have my doubts about whether or not he'd last at all.

BUT for now we also have good players in the secondary next year to look forward to. Even so, Martin fits the profile of a possible wasted spot given his academic concerns despite his talent.

JuCo CB Justin Martin out of Nashville will be a name to know

Daaaaaamn what the hell happened to the aggies? Sumlin is a closet Dooley with better x's and o's?

I think we have a good shot at getting to 9-4 before we play Alabama.

Definitely. When aren't off on shooting, we're a dangerous team with plenty of talent. That talent is gelling sooner than I thought too. If we had decent bigs we'd be a bigger contender than folks realize. Still there's a lot of work to do but I LOVE that we fight to the bitter end and that Tyndall is starting to show he can coach - really coach!

Knock on wood that we keep improving!
