Shut up with the calling someone a small person because you have an issue with your ex wife who decided she needed to get some with someone else because you lacked something and you probably did not care much for her kid so wonder how good a father you tried to be. Doesn't feel good for someone to type crap to you does it. You can feel how you wish but my kids go to one of the few good public systems around but private and kids who are home schooled are ok as well if parents are really involved in their education. Kids at all schools can have issues socially regardless. Could be their personality. I know two kids I coached who were home schooled and were good friends to others, athletes, and in what would be their senior year of high school now have a year of college under their belts. Also, others doing same thing in public and private schools so how about that Mr. Stereotyper.

Now that is full Pedigo and Moranic all at the same time with a little Butchna thrown in.

It all starts at home. Whether you're homeschooled or go to private school or go to public school. It starts at home with the parents. And If they are involved and supportive and helpful and encouraging or not....

My oldest has always been a great student. This year, 4th grade, she got stuck with a weak teacher and a class full of trouble makers. Her work has suffered and she has regressed. I am demanding the principal move her to a new class or my wife and I plan to pull her and home school her for the rest of the year. We want he to be placed in the high ability classes when she moves up to 5th grade and she isn't going to make it in her current class. She has had great teachers in 1st-3rd grade but this year has been horrible. Public school requires active parents to ensure the kids are getting the education they deserve. Even with her good teachers we still work extra at home to supplement the public school education. It's like Social Studies doesn't exist anymore. If you want your kids to learn history you better be prepared to teach it to them yourself. Raising kids is hard work and not for the faint of heart. God bless all parents!!

I've always liked a man that can flame his own post. However, any "error" that was wielded in that rant is fine by me. Good work JV.

Well... I come in here and see that someone went straight up bat****. Those posts were so stupid as to make me not want to mock him... Do you know how hard it is to make me not want to mock someone/thing??

Anyway I don't think I've ever met a home schooled kid with behavioral problems (Having parents in your life tends to even those issues out), they just tend to be special snowflakes that don't know how to into human society.

There are the homeschool families that are very strange. I've met my fair share.

But take it from someone who was homeschooled K-12, homeschooling generally provides an excellent education.

I said this is the helm thread before it got nuked/locked wherever it is... I was homeschooled until I went to college and was a very advanced student. Aced algebra 1 when I was 11, graduated high school a year early, and finished my freshman year of college before I turned 18.

I had plenty of friends throughout middle and high school; had plenty of friends in college.

I graduated college with a 3.9 gpa, 2 weeks later went to work for one of the worlds premier financial firms, and didn't miss a beat in the entire development.

Helm is probably a super bright kid, and yeah may be homesick because he's so used to home. But it's pretty lame to see people bashing the kid like he's a scared puppy. Scott is homesick but wasn't homeschooled... Is his public school an issue?

Anyway.. Stepping down off my soapbox. Let the kid make the decision that's right for him. I wish he'd stay, but it appears being close to family tops UT football for him.

I have an opinion, and I will not give it, because it is nowhere close to applicable in this thread.

Please talk football

TIA :hi:

Sorry. Didn't mean to drive it off topic. But I thought if it was applicable to bash a kid and speculate about how homeschooling didn't have him ready, it was applicable to defend his educational background.

It's the same thing as engaging someone on the numbers debate.

Let it go, and it's an isolated post. Engage, and it's a 3 page continuation. People rarely change their opinions in an argument.

Everybody has their thing though

This should be done. It will also raise Tennessee's education rank by 30 states, reduce TN crime rate by 99%, reduce taxes by 58%, and change absolutely nothing in terms of football recruiting and loyalty.

The amount of hate y'all give my city is exactly why Memphians hate UT. Most Memphians, while we make fun of our city for it's flaws, are fiercely proud of it.

I don't really think the dislike for Memphis has much if anything to do with UT or Middle or East TN. There are several folks that live close to Memphis that feel the same way.
Y'all can continue to hate UT, but don't try to say that UT is the ONLY one that feels this way.
I don't Hate Tiger High. Its a waste of energy to do so.

A. I was born, bred, and bleed Orange. B. Memphis football won their conference this year. Proud of them for that like I would be proud of a little brother. C. Memphis is historically better than UT in basketball, and the Grizz are on fire, and I know there are a fair amount of Grizz fans here. D. BBQ National Championships and Rondezvous, helloo?! E. Home of the Blues, B.B. King and Beale Street. F. Memphis produces great athletes year in and year out in. G. FedEx makes Memphis the most economically profitable city (along with being the largest) in the state of Tennessee. SO if you want to keep on hating on the city I am proud of, where I was born and raised, on both sides of the poverty line, instead of rooting for the city to be better, which, by the way, it already has after 20 years under the WORST mayor EVER, who has finally been replaced by someone at least half competent, go ahead. Memphis isn't perfect, but Tennessee is a better state with a better Memphis, and would be a better team if we could tap into and keep the talent that comes out of there on a regular basis. It doesn't help the school when our fans come to the city and scoff and turn their noses up at it. Like it or not, the suburbs of Memphis are some of the fastest growing in the nation, and the city is only growing. It's not going anywhere. So get over yourselves. Be a fountain, not a drain.

Hatred of Memphis isn't exactly exclusive to Vol fans.

No, but Memphis hates UT. And it all started when I was in grade school. UT people regularly turned their noses up at us, and schools like Arkansas, Alabama, Texas A&M, and particularly Ole Miss took hold. Memphis holds a friendly rivalry with Ole Miss. When Tennessee comes to town, it's like the rich cousins come to town and scoff at all the things you are proud of. There is a lot of resentment in the schools, and it's the fanbase's fault, not the coaches.

Well done, Face. I don't understand student/athlete hate because they don't want to suit up for a school's football team any more. With all that goes on when you throw kids in together from all over the country and different backgrounds, some are not going to like the result and want to leave. I know I would if it wasn't right for me.

Lol. The only reason schools like Arkansas, Bama, Ole Miss, and Miss State took hold as you say is they paid for several athletes out of Memphis over the past several years. UT disassociated itself with one of their prominent boosters because he was linked to paying and pipelining so many Memphis recruits straight to UT.
