Where's skeeter been? Have there been any recent sightings? I think he was Dooley.

He dropped a nuke last year in the Josh Malone thread.

Other than that, he's pretty much been awol since the Vonn Bell fiasco. He caught way too much crap over that imo. Bell and Urbz were purposely trolling.

He also got Darrell Scott right last year.

I don't care what anu studies say, every single home school kid I have ever met is maladjusted. Every single one.

This isn't my experience. Home schooling is more mainstream now than people realize. It's growing popularity is really a commentary on our public school system. But this is the football talk thread so I digress.

This guy was home schooled. Probably a huge leap from a social aspect.

It is. And UT can be an absolutely overwhelming place for a freshman making the transition to college. The campus is large, the student body is enormous, professors and instructors expect you to be independent (they're not checking up on you like high school and expect you to take the initiative on all kinds of things) and you're expected to navigate almost everything on your own. It's easy to get lost in the crowd and/or become overwhelmed by it all. Not every student will do well at a large college while some thrive at larger colleges. It really depends on the person. There are advantages and disadvantages to each type of university and a lot of it depends on fit.

I have 4 grandchildren that are home schooled and they do as well or better in contact with the public than kids I know that go to our county public schools. Just like in public school systems the home school systems are as good as the leadership makes them. If a parent is home schooling children and are not part of a system then I could see how the children could be effected if they are never in contact with other people. That would be like locking them in a closet.
Many of the public school systems are failures and are teaching only what is necessary to get federal money. They don't seem to care about educating the children. That's why so many teachers are leaving the profession.

I have 2 stepsons , Their bio-father a preacher insisted they be home schooled into his religion . One is a drug addicted fool , His older brother is just slightly worse .

I divorced their mother because she was un-faithful .

I have a second set of sons , Went every day to public schools . One is a Mechanical engineer , the younger will be College Graduate in May .

I say that to say this . When you insist on putting a religion into the study of Algebra , You are going to fail to teach , one of either religion or algebra .

Mine either. Those who criticize homeschooled kids usually do so due to their lack of knowledge about it. Having raised 3 homeschooled kids and with 3 grandkids homeschooled I see the opposite. All are much better able to relate to kids of all ages and adults, as they are forced to. Helms leaving is not because he can't relate or communicate due to homeschooling. A ridiculous statement.

Not sure where you got confused at but my grandchildren are being home schooled to get a better education, they go to church for their religion. They are all about a year ahead of the kids in their grades in the public schools and also study some things that public schools don't. They learn how to do cursive writing which the public schools haven't been teaching. Sorry about your step-sons and happy about your sons.

That is the way it should be , School for school . Church for Religion . That is not at all the way it works from MY perspective . I mean No dis-respect to you or your family sir . I am just offering a different observation on this whole wonderful home schooling thing .

No problem.
When I went to high school in the early 1960's it was not a political contest like it is now. Most teachers were interested in helping to educate the children. Now it is mostly playing politics to try to keep their jobs. It also is a circus where about half the children have to go to the "clinic" to get their drugs each day and some of the teachers are also drugged up to help get them through the day. When I went to school the "hyperactive" kids were wore down in the physical ed class and now they drug them up to put them in a zombie state. Sorry for the rant.

The system has made it near impossible for teachers to educate. They have to do so much administrative bs that they can't focus on teaching. Both of my parents were/are teachers and my wife is a teacher. She is under unbelievable stress but it is rarely due to worrying about teaching kids. Sad

It all starts at home. Whether you're homeschooled or go to private school or go to public school. It starts at home with the parents. And If they are involved and supportive and helpful and encouraging or not....

When I went to HS 75-79 we did not have much info into the way of politics or ad/hd . as a matter of fact I never heard any of those things .

I assume now it's because of the 24 hour news cycle .

the only thing wrong with public schools IN my opinion , is parents and politicians .

Politicians want to create brainwashing stations [ Both partys ] Parents just want a convenient dump off point .
