He based that on a Marcus Ray quote...from before RichRod's tenure there...that's what is getting lost in the translation...Rodriguez has been a blazing success everywhere...but Michigan.

I would be a little surprised if Butch were interested in Michigan if for no other reason than the Rich Rod factor.

Again, we can't afford to lose another coach. It will set us back another 3-4 years

I don't think it would this time as long as the current class stayed in tact. This job is much more attractive to a veteran coach now. If you can find a coach with similar system they can really come in and hit the ground running. Butch did the heavy lifting and set a foundation.

Obviously it isn't ideal by any means but Butch wouldnt be leaving a mess behind like the other two guys

Butch has Hart by the short ones and he knows it, Hart knows it, everyone knows it.

Butch leaving along with half the recruiting class (not to mention the transfers) would cripple this program back to 2010 levels.

He has all the leverage right now.

The only thing is, I seriously doubt the class would stay in tact.

Butch is making a power play by not signing the extension yet. Maybe he's truly waiting on an offer from UM or maybe he's trying to get the maximum amount of $$$ from his employer just like every other person who has ever had a job would do.

Hoping its for the latter.

Totally fine as long as it doesn't tie us up infinitum. Look at what the Muschamp deal is costing them. He went 7-6 and 11-2 before crapping the bed.

The Butch Homers don't understand it is fine to pay him whatever but it should include a clean exit for UT if he cannot deliver. A lot more than 6-6.

So, are we about to lose another damn football coach

I seriously doubt it...but Butch is bout to get paid. Everyone involved knows we can't endure another coaching change right now. It will set us back another 4 years. Are we gonna overpay Butch to keep him? Possibly, but in the long run it's probably what's needed to keep stability IMO. It is what it is. I love CBJ and want him as our coach. The landscape of college football is changing and money gets thrown around like never before.

Pelini never lost 4 games in his tenure at Nebraska and they hired a guy who lost 4+ in every one of his 14 seasons at Oregon State

IMO, if Butch is trying to use UM to leverage for more money then I (as the AD) let him do it once. After that though, you let him walk unless you have seen significant improvement that warrants keeping him. This gives you another year of stability in the program and more talented players on the roster. Again, JMO

I'm sorry but Butch is losing a few cool points with me on this. Not for wanting more but for repeatedly saying you have no interest. Until whoops now maybe I do.

I'm as big a fan of CBJ as there is and I can agree with this. Let him leverage us this one time for the sake of stability, but cover our own behinds at the same time.

The only person saying Butch has interest is Wes Rucker. Now Wes may be right...but let's not get too frustrated with Butch until he actually has a meeting with Michigan.
