As I said when I called the numbers if I give him his new deal it comes with a buyout larger than his salary. So maybe 8mill for a 4mill deal.

If it's a play for cash then there is a limit and this should end sensibly. If he and Michigan have a boner for each other it won't end until we are overpaying for a coach that we are then skeptical of. For example is Butch worth 5? At some point you get a guy that wants to be here.

I don't want Butch to leave. I said this yesterday and will say it again...if he does leave (which I don't think he will) then I want us to take a page out of Kstate's strategy and bring back Fulmer for a few years of stability. I really believe Fulmer could still recruit to UT. I say this because at some point the revolving door needs to stop. Hopefully it has/will with Butch.

A powerhouse FSU and Miami, along with a rising UCF (need a younger head coach though) would be bad for UF.

his overall coaching record would def go to the tank if he decides to go rebuilding again for another 2-3 years. I honestly would just laugh if he went there because that just seems dumb with the roster he is going to have for next few years at TN.

You guys are being short sighted. Sometimes you overpaying saves you money in the long run. An extra 500k a year is nothing compared to replacing your entire coaching staff. Remember he would essentially take the staff with him if he left

I'm not short sighted at all. Pay him 4 if you want. At some point it stops making good sense. You guys are battered wives. We suck anyway. Just find the right coach that wants to be here.

Exactly. I believe Michigan may have been his dream job 5 years ago when any major program was his "dream job." Now he has his dream job.

Butch is making a power play by not signing the extension yet. Maybe he's truly waiting on an offer from UM or maybe he's trying to get the maximum amount of $$$ from his employer just like every other person who has ever had a job would do.

Hoping its for the latter.
