Sure that would suck if a program is set back by false accusations. But what if they are true and we continue to play an athlete that is charged/convicted/anything more than investigated?

I get the smart a** point you are trying to make, but a potentially tough road for a clean program is miles ahead of a successful on-field team with ethical spine of FSU.

Oh hell no! The girls names should have been released just as soon as AJ's and Michael Williams names were released. If you're going to accuse someone publicly of doing something to you then your name should be dragged through the mud just like these two guys were. Innocent until proven guilty is a concept that's being shat on with cases like this. The guys are already being punished before any evidence has even been mentioned. Hell there aren't even any charges being pressed by either of these two females. That is the definition of bullshlt! That woman should also be removed from her rowing team.

Are you being serious? The victim of an alleged crime should be dragged through the mud? To my knowledge neither of these girls publicly drug these two men through the mud at all. They were suspended by the athletic department for unspecified reasons and then the media broke the story over what the suspensions resulted from. Don't blame these women for the situation AJ and Michael find themselves in.

Thanks for the clarification. I understand these young men will have the right to face their accuser and these trials are public knowledge, I just feel for the young woman if this all turns out to be true. There will be someone who will harass her and if she stays in Knoxville, unfortunately, this stigma will stay with her.

No innocence or guilt has been proven in this case. Yet AJ and Michael get their names announced publicly AND they get suspended from their program all because of an accusation. In no way is that fair! If the system insists on treating people like this then the playing field needs to be even and the accuser should be named publicly and removed from their respective sporting program as well. Hell yes!

You're already assuming guilt on the guys' part.
Don't blame AJ and Michael for the situation those girls found themselves in.

You know, I can't say it's a fact, but the statistics support the notion that a very large number of women experience attempted or completed rape. A quick google says 1 in 6. Also, 1 in 33 men.

Again, I can't say it's a fact, but credible statistics also imply that only 40% of rapes are reported, and only 3% of rapists ever spend a day in jail.

Going by these numbers, it seems likely that you probably know women who have been raped. Many of these women probably never reported the crime. Why wouldn't they report it? One only need to read some of the responses in threads like these to find out.

Blaming possible victims is ALWAYS wrong, especially when all you have is rank speculation, and no facts. I know what everyone wants to be true. We will would all like to find out that our players did not do this, because not only would that clear their names, but it would also mean these women were not raped.

If in fact they were though, as many women are, how do you think naming them publicly would make them feel? Or saying that they are somehow partially responsible for their rape.

I might agree with you that the names of suspected criminals shouldn't be released until they are convicted, but the idea that women who report rape should be named is lunacy.
