Cut to Duke?

Where is Heath Shuler, selling cars ? Andy Kelly would be the best UT tie coach we could get.
Things that make me go uhh, Heath Shuler now resides in the House of Representatives, Congressman for the 11th district of N.C. :ermm:

Yeah, but it would be so cool to see him jumping up and giving chest bumbs in the coaches box. :eek:lol:

That would be unprofessional behavior and it is a reflection of his work ethic, character and calls into question his ability to actually be qualified enough for the job.

Actually I wanted Chris Hatcher when CDC was hired.

Keep banging the drum Lex. Eventually somebody is going to put him on their staff and he's going to light up scoreboards. He'd already be a coordinator if he wasn't on the Hal Mumme staff that got run out of Lexington.

I agree with that, would love the guy to be wearing orange. Would he be the QB coach too?

Sheeeeeeeez, I forgot about that, wow, couldnt vote for him, no matter how good he looked in orange..:p

I'm going to laugh when our QB development tails off and our shiny new innovative OC is struggling because of lack of QB play. Everyone will be screaming and yelling and not even realize they got exactly what they asked for. Cut is one of the best QB coaches in the country. I know his play calling is not all-world. I would love to see him be strictly a QB coach but its not going to happen.

I'm fairly surprised that the New York Football Giants haven't offered him a large contract to do just that.

Cut's interview at Duke is being reported all over print and TV media in Nashville this morning. On an aside, I find it strangely amusing that so many of the folks who are ordinarily waxing poetic about staff stability and family atmosphere are now turing on Cut over the mere possibility that he will leave. Taking all circumstances into consideration, the best possible outcome for the Vols is if Cut stays. I find it laughable that some folks believe Phil will hire anyone who is seen as an innovative up-and-comer.

Phil's not going to hire anyone that may be a threat to him, ala' Phil to Majors.

I thought these posts on the Tennessean's article about Cut's interview were pretty interesting....

After reading most of these comments, I see why other SEC folks laugh at us...like every other football team, we have our ups & downs. I'm happy we don't hire "mercenary coaches" who have no loyalty to the fans, players, or the school. That ilk is just in it for the $$$. So if you hate the Vols, then go buy a houndstooth baseball cap or plastic pig hat. Such fashion statements will likely improve your appearance.
I hope Coach Cut stays at Tennessee. Just FIRE Larry Slade & hire Dale Jones onto the defensive staff. He'll make a great coordinator soon.

Posted: Thu Dec 13, 2007 6:32 amHmmmm...why do we never hear of someone interested in the $2+ million Great Pumpkin? Ooooops! There I go, being a fake VOL fan again. Only 'good' Vol fan supports the "winningest coach" in his seven year quest for Historical Mediocrity!

<Note to self: remove orange T from front of car. Put in its place a pic of an orange kitty cat.>

The one thing you can be sure this interview accomplished was a sleepless night for big Phil. If Cut goes, he will truly learn how the cow ate the cabbage.

With the 1th ot last-ranked defense, this offense saved Phil's rear end as much as it could. Phil praised the effort against LSU, but when you peeled the BS back, it surrendered 464 yds! Man, talk about wisthling in the dark.

I hope he gets it. Ole Mess saw what happened when he left. Go Cut go!

I'm sure that was a Volnation poster. Variations of the word mediocre are all the rage right now. We Vol fans need a thesaurus. Why can't we use humdrum, unexceptional, pedestrian, or my personal vote run-of-the-mill! Maybe we could even add a flair for the foreign by proclaiming Fulmer a déclasser.

For those of you who wanted Cut gone, you might get that wish. I hope your happy.

We're playing a green QB next year, and one of the best QB coaches in the nation is about to jump ship.

Cut probably realizes the mess Fulmer/Hamilton have created with our Vols and sees no change on the horizon, so he's hitting the trail.

saw this post on VolQuest and it pretty much sums up how I feel about the situation:

For those who want the guy gone and complain about the style of O... UT scored over 400 points this time for the first time since 2001. They've scored the most ppg since 1996... and Cut did it without typical UT offensive talent or help from the D.... or even help from ST's for most of the year.
He took a broken QB who is injury prone and immobile... kept him from getting hit... and had him near the SEC top in passing. He had three no name WR's in the SEC top 15. He's got a fairly non-explosive, run of the mill RB on a pace to break the UT all time rushing record.
I'm not exactly sure how any genuine fan with a good grasp of the game could want him gone.

Cut probably realizes the mess Fulmer/Hamilton have created with our Vols and sees no change on the horizon, so he's hitting the trail.

It probably also has something to do with the potential of tripling his paycheck.

I'm with you VHB, I like Cut a lot. I also feel like he brought discipline to this team, which was a complaint under Sanders.
