Cut to Duke?

Wait until we get Pryor, he is in love with Cut.

There's a good reason for that... Cut can coach in spite of what you good folks seem to be inclined to believe.

I was critical of the decision to hire him back... but I don't think there's another guy who can do the job nearly as well... with or without consideration to what CPF might or might not do.

I'm going to laugh when our QB development tails off and our shiny new innovative OC is struggling because of lack of QB play.

yeah, I'm sure the next guy will never see the benefit of the G Gun, either. :ermm:

The difference in pay would be roughly 3x as much, 250k to 750k. I think he would take it, especially considering a lot of people were calling for Fulmer's head after the Florida and Alabama games. Job security in this field isn't high.

I don't think he is offered the position though. They will go after an up and coming coach like Spurrier was when they hired him. That's what they have only had success with. I think Cut would be 3rd possibly 2nd choice.

I actually have a feeling they dont want to go with up-and-coming. The AD wants somebody "established" at the highest level possible.

I'm going to laugh when our QB development tails off and our shiny new innovative OC is struggling because of lack of QB play. Everyone will be screaming and yelling and not even realize they got exactly what they asked for. Cut is one of the best QB coaches in the country. I know his play calling is not all-world. I would love to see him be strictly a QB coach but its not going to happen.
Nothing more need be said, this post is dead on. If Coach Cut leaves, CPF better go after the best available, and not just be loyal to someone on the staff. He has went out and made some small changes the past couple of years, and I would say those changes were good.

Cause we were screaming for him to return last time? We can do better than a QB coach as our OC

What in the world does the G-Gun have to do with QB development?

It needs to be developed.
Cut will never ever do that 100%.

As far as his development abilities, it's a tad harder without a Manning. He's average at best.

Like what exactly? The no huddle... 4 wide set... single back set... shot gun... what exactly?

Cut did as much with this year's talent and limitations as anyone could. Think about it. The WR's were serviceable... his system turned 3 of them into SEC leaders in receptions. Ainge has a good arm, quick release, and intelligence... he's also immobile and extremely injury prone... Yet he was among the SEC leaders in passing and stayed healthy all year.

They don't have a great game breaking RB... yet Foster is on a pace to set the career rushing record at UT.

Just exactly how innovative do you think someone has to be to do better with what UT had this year than they did on O?

I only wish that Chavis had been as "innovative"... UT might have gone to the BCS championship game.

In case you're interested, UT scored 400 pts already this year for the first time since 2001. They've scored the most ppg since 1996... "Innovation" isn't likely to do a whole lot better than that.

Give me a freaking break. UT's offense has been just as crappy as the defense. They did nothing to help us win in the games against Bama, Florida, and LSU.

I don't think Cutcliffe gets enough credit for turning Ainge around between '05 and '06, but his play calling has been... what's the word I'm looking for? Incosistent at best? :)

Anyway, good luck to him.

IMO UT needs to be more successful before Cut is going to get another HC job. Back to back 9-4 seasons isn't that impressive.

Problem is Fulmer will never hire his replacement! He ain't going after a great OC, only one he can control!

Whatever he does, i wish him the best. I really didn't care for some of his play calling but i will say, he is a good QB coach. There is nothing wrong with wanting to make more money.

With the high profile world of hiring coaches now, I think we try to lure a big time OC here. Doubt Fulmer and Hamilton will shoot low. You're just looking for another Fulmer conspiracy.
