Cut to Duke?

for a coach like cut another firing probably means he never sees another head coaching job. duke is a no win situation for a guy running a traditional offense. only way duke wins short term is to get gimmicky.

They will pay him a million buck a year plus incentives. He is pretty much a lock for 5 years no matter how bad the record. By then he'd be really close to 60 and probably wouldn't have any other options anyway. The fact that Cut did not even get a formal interview at NC State last year after he went public with his interest in the job is telling. AND each year that the Vols do not win the SEC or make a BCS game his stock goes down. He needs to take the first gravy train out of K-town and this would be it.

What's telling is that all the people here who've said our coordinators couldn't get head coaching jobs were dead wrong.

Cut is a great coach. Period.

Cut did a wonderful job at Ole Piss.

I do not believe Chavis will ever get a big school job.

OE, are you one of the ones who went on record to say the same about Cut?

If so, fess up before posting something like this one.

Credibility should be an issue for all of us anonymous posters.

P.S. That's a good article whose link you just posted.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I like Cut, a bit too conservative for my liking, but overall he is solid.

:dunno:

For those of you who wanted Cut gone, you might get that wish. I hope your happy.

We're playing a green QB next year, and one of the best QB coaches in the nation is about to jump ship.

Bang on....not to mention in the running for a hotshot QB recruit. That hope will evaporate if CDC leaves.

But....like the 90 year old man who was cautioned about the health hazards of sex with his 20 year old bride..."She dies if she dies".

If he goes I wish CDC well and can only hope MH and CPF make a good hire and do not promote from within.

I dont like the prospect of losing him as a QB coach. But if he does go I hope he at least takes Roper with him. Luke has done a solid job from the sources I have talked to but I think we can find a better coach to put on staff than Roper.

Fulmer is going to have a difficult time replacing Cutcliffe. Coaches want to go where they will learn and work with the best offensive minds in the country. Where does that leave Fulmer? Cutcliffe came back because of a long standing friendship with Fulmer.

Unless Fulmer makes an exceptional hire, CDC's acceptance of the Duke job will start the slow erosion of CPF's program.

CPF is a better coach with CDC than without him.

Gonna be hard to replace..................

While I see the loss of Cut as a negative event, I am going to try my best to wait and see what happens before hurling too many stones. IF Cut leaves, Phil will have a unique opportunity to show us whether he is truly dedicated to changing the program for the better by bringing in an innovative OC and giving that person the discretion to select his own assistants, call his own plays, and more or less run the offense as he sees fit. That action would make a statement that would cause me to take notice and have a little faith.

I believe offered the duke job coach Cut will have to take it ; wonder if phil will go after Randy Sanders ; would'nt surprise me at all

I wonder if Cutcliffe needs help packing. I'd be glad to expedite his exit. He'll be lucky to win 15 games in the five years he'll be in Durham prior to his inevitable termination. Don't let the door hit you, David.

That's generous, hat. My vote is for 8-10 games in 4 years.

Well, I would think most of us don't believe in CPF to bring in a up and comer(Hatcher), to fill a position that usually leads to Head Coach job. And secondly that he gives that coach total control like he gave Cut.

I wonder if Cutcliffe is still recruiting for Tennesse while all of interviewing is going on at Duke.
