If it's heavily regulated. The Cartels and the Mafia would be brought to their knees.

That's not even the biggest issue. You're assuming that if all drugs were legal and regulated, that everyone who uses these drugs would use and act rationally. Not going to happen.

Hard drugs are very addictive. Many times addicts lose major things in their life like their money, home and family. More often than not, this leads to begging, theft and other crimes being committed to fund the addiction.

Sorry but legalizing hard drugs like cocaine and heroin is a huge mistake.

So they imply that those with lower IQ's probably were the ones smoking pot. Sounds like smoking pot makes stupid people smarter........

I don't know. I know I've smoked. Haven't for awhile just for a break. But will again. Didn't as a teen. I also do ok in the business world and am ok with my IQ and decision making.
The adults I know that smoke are entrepreneurs, thinkers, songwriters (@ 1 million of those around Nashville it seems). Most have been happily married for a good while and have well behaved children. In my golf group, which is 14 of us, almost all enjoy it from time to time, and I'd put up their collective IQ's and business acumen over any nonsmoker I've met because they are openminded and have accessed part of the brain that non smoking adults haven't or can't get to.
I guess maybe at times, some folks would rather be chilling out on the superwhite hwy checking out other parts of the mind , rather being closeminded and stuck in the gray area. Those same nonsmokers insisted for years that people only use 10% of their brains, when in reality, only using 10% of one's brain means you are dead.
Some just are able to maximize certain facets of the brain, while others have areas that lay dormant.

This stuff is just really amusing to me, hearing various perspectives, reading about a brain in a mouse who used his little hands to smoke a tiny rat joint, terrible daily decision making by stone cold sober people that would make a high person blush, etc, etc.

You and I live in different worlds. And different decades, quite possibly. I'll always be openminded and wouldn't trade it for a tunnelvisioned closed mind for a day.
That would be damn miserable.

That's all well & good but I don't think smoking weed automatically opens up someone's mind for brilliance & creativity, you either are or your not. Some of these people may like getting high & that's fine. You don't want to grasp the realization that these people are the exception & not the rule.

People who are going to become cocaine and heroin addicts will become addicts anyway. Rationally thinking people will remain the same. I'd rather see the organized crime be crippled.

I would like to see organized crime toppled to but it's never going to happen. Also the hard drugs are much more addictive. Are there very many rational heroin or meth addicts? I don't know. I just don't see hard drugs being sold the same way as medical marijuana being a good thing.

Where are all these rational sober people that some keep suggesting exist?

I think there is little coincidence that many people in the arts, writing, entertainment, movies and music businesses smoke on a regular basis.
And who's to say what the exception and the rules are? You? There are millions of American's that fit into the category that I'm referring to. Millions. That doesn't seem like an exception to me. If you don't think there are millions that fit into the description that you call an exception, you are flat out wrong and extremely naive.

After reading through this thread it is obvious pot does in fact shrink brains.

I smoked a lot of pot as a teen and young adult. Its mostly harmless and less damaging in most cases than alcohol. That doesnt make it a good thing..like nearly everything it has strengths anx weaknesses.
I worked on framing crews where we smoked on the way to work..at lunch..and on the way home. Building mcmansions one after another in the richest neighborhoods around charlotte. In my experience this is the exception though not the rule.
The biggest problem with weed is for most people it removes INITIATIVE..they may come up with good ideas on occasion while stoned but rarely accomplish much besides eating..watching tv...or playing video games. Many many potheads get stuck on the couch as life passes them by. Heavy smokers also seem to get a little crispy aroundd the edges...forgetful..lacking focus...lacking motivation etc
There are always exceptions to the rule. Some smokers are highly motivated people who succeed in life. They smoke on occasion to unwind. These seem in my experience to be the exception to the rule though. I think that is why a lot of people who smoked in college stop when they get older...i dont need anything to make me hungry or sleepy. I need caffeine and a couple more hours daylight everyday to accomplish what i want to do. Jmo...not trying to piss off the ever defensive smokers for life. Lol
