Josh Dobbs will fundamentally redefine the quarterback position at Tennessee if . . .

I don't really know why people even bother creating threads on VN anymore.

This was a well-thought out post and half the replies are immediate attacks on the OP's thought process and credibility.

So typical. Guy has a good game or two now he is redefining the position of QB. Why can't our fans have a rational reaction to anything?

Fade... it's because we have been waiting for this moment to come for three years now. Bray laid down the last part of his last year here, and we have been grasping at straws since. Can't we have just a little excitement?

If you're looking for excitement, I give you Kenny "Trill" Hill.

If you've not heard of him, you will soon. Based off his first 3 games (one also being against South Carolina) I Imagine he will be a beast at QB.

Interesting comparison. What did Hill do against Alabama? He was 17-26-1 for 138 yards and zero touchdowns, while rushing ten times for -11 yards in their 59-0 loss.

Dobbs, by contrast, accounted for 75 yards rushing and 267 yards total offense in 52:05 of action vs. the Tide. He also orchestrated two touchdown drives against ‘bama, both of which were 84 yards in length and culminated 10- and 15-play drives, respectively, which lasted 5:00 and 6:46, respectively. Those are the two longest scoring drives which Alabama has surrendered all season. I would say that Dobbs passed the litmus test with flying colors.

Welp since all of this seems to come down to 1 game; how can I argue that anymore than Arkansas must have a top ten defense because they held a team that scored 59 against A&M to just 14 points. A season full of 1 game litmus tests. Seems legit.

We've had the advantage that there hasn't been much film on Dobbs thus far. Defenses will begin to prepare for him more and more. We will have to wait and see if Dobbs can adapt and overcome.

Your taking my post completely out of context.

My point was, if he thinks people are lazy because they don't want to read long nonsense, then he should be considered lazy for fogetting a few freakin apostrophes.

dude, the reason I quoted you was because you had to complain that his post was too long and you didn't even want to read it before making a judgement and comment on it. See, you referred to it as "long nonsense" meaning that you didn't care for his post before actually reading it, if you can read more than 3 sentences. Please actually read someones post/thought before you post some knee jerk reaction to what you thought his post meant because you think its too long to actually read. cause that's just ignorant.

It is not extreme, because a QB that can run and pass has never been a staple of TN QBs. Tee Martin was close, but he had running production that was arguably less than Dobbs. That is what he means by redefining the QB position AT TENNESSEE. Key part is AT TENNESSEE.
The Artful Dodger disagrees.

Had the OP changed one word (will) in his thread title Id go with it to an extent. But even then the first sentence gets in the way without the rest of the names.

Which one of those QBs holds the record for the most yards ran in a game? I be you could say that person might redefine the QB position if he holds the record. I wonder who that guy is?

This clears it up.

Thanks for starting the fire neGAvol.

I don't care if you disagree. You are fully entitled to disagree with my interpretation. I advanced a speculative hypothesis based on factual, statistical data and performance to date. You countered with nothing more substantive than "I categorically reject your position because I choose to do so."

There we go.

great comment.
Yeah, people, before we put the brakes on, let's pay attention to the direction of the skid!!

as soon as scouting film shows angles on Dobbs and he doesn't slide to avoid getting his throwing shoulder buried in the turf, we'll be yelling: NEXT.

And... I cited specific examples of similar QBs over the past 40 years. You're the one sticking your fingers in your ears and saying "wahhhh I can't hear you. I can't hear you. Negavol!" And extrapolating possibly 1,000 yards rushing after 7 quarters of football.

P.S. - and Triple H is already the Cerebral Assassin.

Let them prepare for what they've seen...think that playbook has even been opened up yet?

The overreactions of this fanbase never cease to amaze me. Fire Butch one week, put him in the hall of fame next. Dobbs is awful and has no future as a QB one week, now he's our savior. Fire Bajakian one week, now his offense is genius.

Its called an opinion. And it usually occurs after a big loss or win.

Extraneous root extrapolation based on a limited data set is what Vol Nation does best.

Medley hit a winning FG? Let's give him the Groza Award.

Maggitt got a sack? Next Lawrence Taylor.

North catches a prayer against SC? Move over Megatron.

This fan base is so starved for success that any taste of it turns into a fevered rush to anoint every player or coach as the next savior.

Dobbs is good. I am highly impressed with him. He hasn't earned a street named after him yet though.

neGAVol has tried to play the good guy for so long. Starting fires quietly so he can later come in and Mod up the place. I just don't know how I didn't see it before now.

And I'd have gotten away with it if not for you meddling kids!!

We need to get calm down on the young man. I think half our members have started a thread on him, lets not forget Kenny Hill tore up that USC defense too, and he was sitting on a couch last week.

OP, a sports writer you may never be, but you my friend have a knack for typing words. Well done.

I did read the first sentence and it was nice and then I SQUIRREL.
