Official Global Warming thread (merged)

So that's two dates you can't find.

Lol @ red herring. It's misleading since you can't back up your idiocy. Gotcha.

You're misleading because the temperature in Savannah on March 3, 719000BC and October 30, 1550 are not relevant to this discussion about the reality and consequences of climate change.

Impossible expectations and moving goalposts are one of the five characteristics of scientific denialism. You're like the creationist crying "there's no transitional fossils!". You've literally added nothing to the conversation. You're just being a little twat and you know it.

Was any part of it ever under the sea? Is it now? Do natural occurrences cease to exist because of man?

Does the pope sh!t in the woods? Why are you diverting? Did you think of any possible reasons for spatial variability in sea level rise? Do you know why Florida is particularly vulnerable to sea level rise?

The last time Wyoming was under water dinosaurs roamed the Earth. The last time sea level was this high was over 100,000 years ago during the last interglacial. The present interglacial and recent sea level rise peaked 10,000 years ago. We should be approaching the next ice age, but instead the ice caps are melting, the ocean is warming, and sea level is rising (at an accelerating rate).

See the UCS document. Coastal flooding is a serious issue affecting Americans today. Here's another funny story on the topic from a while back:

On N.C.’s Outer Banks, scary climate-change predictions prompt a change of forecast

Talk about burying your head in the sand...

I'm not religious. I have no dog in the evolution fight. I really don't care.

I've added a simple question that throws your fantasy away. You have no idea the temps that were before 150 years ago. You can have kind of an idea in regards to where crops are growing and the presence of low lying glaciers, etc..., but you don't know specifics for certain. Though I've heard August of 1312 was a hot one. Probably the real hottest ever! Lol

Your alarmist tinfoil doomsday predictions are always accepted for a good laugh. Have you ventured outside yet? It'll be good for you to meet people.

as far as spatial variablity. it went down in the cold regions and up in the warmer. either because all the water is fleeing the melting ice caps. or the melting ice caps are made of ice and ice is less dense than water (water expands when frozen) and so when it melts there is less volume of water. There give me my two internet cookies.

also i love how inconsistent it is. Florida is like New Orleans, dumb jacks decide to build just above the sea level the deserve to get wet, and all of the sudden its my problem.

Look guys, the only way the Earth restores itself to a natural homeostasis is when man's numbers and all of his toxic emissions have been greatly reduced or eliminated. Frankly, if we're gonna warm, then let's get on with it. The sooner this planet is inhabitable by people, the better. I urge everyone to increase their own carbon footprint asap.

Not the answer I was looking for but you still get their cookies. Thanks for exercising that brain!

The primary cause for spatial variability in relative sea level rise is variability in tectonic setting. Some land is rising, some land is sinking. At high latitudes land is rising due to isostatic rebound - it's bouncing back from being compressed by glaciers for tens of thousands of years.

Shows what you [don't] know about paleoclimatology. Toss insults all you want but in the end I'm still with the overwhelming scientific consensus and you're still the one wearing the tinfoil hat.

Sigh.

You have no hard core evidence. You have no proof to back up your claims. Post as many made-up charts all you want. They mean nothing without evidence. Tinfoil is with you all running around and claiming the sky is falling and earth is falling apart with man-made global warming, err climate change (gotta use change now because you crazies have been proven wrong). The calm, cool and collected side of this pseudo issue understand that weather changes. Sometimes it's hot, sometimes it's cold. That's life. Put the hat down, calm down and just stop making up things to be upset about. Live life and enjoy it. Go out and meet a girl, it'll change your life.

Relax man and just soak up all that hot sun. You'll feel better.

Um, the northern hemisphere was hot in July and August! Garblegarblegarblegarble.

*Sigh*, when will people learn the world is bigger than their own backyard? We're breaking global heat records left and right, but it's always "Yeah, well it snowed a foot in Bucksnort!!"

Congratulations, you found it. The eastern US is literally the only region in the world with below average temperatures this year.

Bring on GW, whatever the cause! Imagine year round boating and bikini weather. :pepper:

Don't forget all those displaced coasties having to find new lodging. My rental rates will increase nicely.

*Please note: grey areas represent missing data

both poles are shown in grey, how can there be missing data when all we hear about arctic sea ice, ice shelves, and so on?

also, most of that departure is 1 to 2 degrees Celsius and Florida is still not underwater

it must suck to be such an alarmist and have nothing to show for your alarmism but the mockery of fellow Vol fans

Per Bart, we're in line to inherit some beach front property. I'm looking forward to it. :boobies:

Considering I've been on every continent before my 30th birthday I'd say I'm quite aware of the world. Other than asking for the temperature in Savannah where have I claimed that only the southeast US is all that matters? Should I ask for Spokane temps to make you happy? That's where I'm from. The Philippines? What the Hong Kong area was like in March of 1200?

When will you learn that the earth is not 100 years old? That's all the data we have for specific global temperatures. 100 years. Everything else is speculation with no proof. Do you know how accurate global temperature instruments and their calculations were from back then? I'm sure they were magnificent. Ice core samples from Antarctica are cute and all, but don't seem to have thermometers in them. Just some gas and you don't know when specifically they were formed. You went from complaining about 30-year periods to 30 day periods. The world is bigger than your life. Get over it.

Now, let's talk about you. Why are you so worried about change? Isn't that what European liberals such as yourself say make the world better? Why are you so intolerant towards weather? What happened to you when you were younger?

Why does the whole idea of climate scare you?

GW has become a religion, a cause, something for people to believe in which leads them on crusades to convert others.

None of the believers have an answer to stop it if real, all they want to do is inconvenience and blame others. The key that convinces me that they are FOS and just money motivated is that none of their leaders and chief proponents are working on or offering solutions to DEAL with it. They're just working on ways to make money off of it and getting guys like Bart to tithe to the cause.

Those frickin 5,000 year old glaciers in Alaska need to melt away asap, too. No telling how much oil, gold, and stuff can be mined from the ground below those overgrown ice cubes.

Not to mention all that nutrient rich soil way up north, crops wouldn't even need fertilizer for a 100 years or more.
