I agree. I don't think Butch will leave. He knows he is getting through this dumpster fire here. If he goes to Michigan it'll be just a bigger dumpster fire. Besides, SEC >>>>> B1G (that has 14 teams)

I agree with your points. Do you think there could also be an element of continuing to build loyalty between coaching staff and players...i.e. letting the players see that he didn't just toss Worley out like yesterday's leftovers once a better option seemed to be revealed?

CBJ has said all year that the best players will play. How is the QB position any different?

I'll go on record right now in saying no way does Butch leave UT to take the Michigan job.

Butch is the anti-Kiffin, IMO, JMO.

(If he does, I will be shocked, but life will go on...)

Can someone clarify the "best 5 OL will play" statement we keep hearing?

If we have 5 guards as our best 5 OL, do we not put in the #7 guy who is a tackle? Are OL positions that interchangeable? Just seems like an average tackle would be better at tackle than a better OL who is a guard.

It means that you go through all of your OL and on your roster, figure out who has the highest Overall (OVR) rating number, and put them there. At least, that's how I do it on the NCAA Football video game. Is that not how you do it in real life???

UTAD doesn't have the greatest track record with impeccable hires or contract deals so that doesn't surprise me. That said making Butch one of the top paid coaches before he even wins more than 8 games is a big gamble though especially if it comes with a big contract. I like Butch and all but I think we have to be careful about giving away the store to a guy with 2 sec wins to date. See how this season finishes out first and go from there. He needs to get us to a bowl to deserve any kind of raise, IMO.

I still think that is the where we ultimately end up, but he is able to display his appreciation and commitment to the other player who, according to some, did nothing to lose his starting job except sustain a non-season-ending injury (which, I realize, we don't know is certain yet).

The 5 that played Saturday night are the 5 who should play this week. They were noticeably better against a very good Bama DL.

I agree, although sub Jackson for Robertson IMO.

Just wondering why you play a guard at tackle just because he's better at guard but worse at tackle, or am I misunderstanding the statement?

Doubt that the players actually read what Coach Jones tells the media. I'm sure it is different from their viewpoint in practice as well.

Bammer didn't prepare for Dobbs because they had no idea he would play. That's the reason Dobbs did so well. Bammer also didn't plan for Texas A&M's tough defense, that's the reason that game was so close.

With that said, right after Butch sebt Dobbs into the Bama game I told my buddies "If we start anybody else out at QB while Dobbs is able to play I will lose faith in Butch." Dobbs has to play. No way around it. RS is burnt, he is the future QB. Butch has to start him now.

What if Dobbs went in instead of Nate Peterman? In the Georgia game that is. Well you play that game? :)
