Now to get some debate going. I thought this was a good post in the fb forum.
Until Saturday night.
Put your bias aside whether you're on one side or the other. Look at the stats last season. Dobbs did have a higher completion percentage but had a higher turnover rate when compared to TDs and had no major victories. The popular opinion of the media was that Dobbs was behind the other two QBs not just behind Worley in the spring. So what decision is there to make other than to start the senior at that point?
People are saying they would've started Dobbs versus UF. Why? Really are you going to start anyone in that game after Worley's performance versus UGA. I know in hindsight some would but coming off that UGA game we thought we had a great chance and that Worley was the guy for the job.
Let's put aside our differences, we all want this team to be successful. Jones has made mistakes but I don't think the QB decision was one of them. Dobbs looks a lot better though and the offense looks like it will be a lot better going forward. That's not just a player adjustment, part of that is coaching. It's like we want to give one credit without acknowledging the other but it just doesn't work that way.
This. How quickly everyone forgets that Worley went 23 of 35 for 264 and 3 TDs at Georgia..
Dobbs was behind Worley and Ferguson in the Spring. He has probably never been behind Peterman in any sense other than being unavailable to take mop up reps.
Dobbs is what THIS team needs right NOW. He probably wasn't what they needed to start the season. The OL is the critical factor. Dobbs' ability to run made life easier on the OL. Pass rushers had to use more caution. His runs gave the OL's angles.
If you could wave the magic wand and make this OL better... then Worley is probably healthy and among the SEC leaders. Accuracy, game management, decision making, et al would be key. Right now... Dobbs ability to take off with the ball helps in critical ways.
