North might not be able to house one, but he is tough after the catch.

He can also make a lot of plays Coop can't make.... Why didn't Bama try to fade Sutton up like he was VH3? He's not a jump ball guy like North. North should be getting slant routes a lot. Treadwell gets force fed at times and I personally think North is better....

Hard to imagine a receiver with better ball skills after watching North make the catch where he was screened on the sideline.

Frustrating.

Cooper and North are different players but can have the same type of impact. Coaches get paid to make schemes to high light their players' strengths.

I'll say this, there was a point in the 2nd half where I thought we had a chance for the comeback. After getting punched in the mouth early and being down 27-0, that is really impressive. Despite some of the coaching decisions we have questioned, one thing you can't take away is how they have ingrained in them the will to keep fighting till the end. That is something we haven't seen in a while.

I disagree with you on the field goal decision. The risk of getting nothing there far exceeded to reward of getting the first down and a potential shot at a touchdown. 3 points was the right call to give the team some confidence and momentum heading into the lockerroom.

Not if your trying to win. Worse game management I have seen since that last home game vs mizzou with that other guy.

AJ did not run the beast. He danced. He still almost made it but he has to charge the hole and not dance. Still, love the way the team fought. Big difference there and do think we get to 6 wins. Also glad the bammers did not take over the stadium. Caines is great chicken. Way better than zaxby.

Some post game thoughts:

It took longer than I expected for the Bama defense to adjust to Dobbs. He really energized the offense. USCe will have a whole week to review the tapes and scheme for Dobbs. It will be interesting to see if he is as effective next week. He has to be more accurate with his passes.

OL did much better not having to hold their blocks for so long. Dobbs was releasing the ball quick enough to minimize the impact of the rush. When he didn't, he was elusive enough make a play. OL adjusted well with Jackson sidelined. Kerbyson played well at guard. Kendrick held up well at LT. Gilliam is just amazing.

I am not as disappointed in the defense as many on VN. Bama used movement well to keep our defense from tracking Cooper. Except for the 1st quarter, the defense played and competed better. Bama's size and strength on offense finally wore our defense down somewhat in the 4th quarter.

One thing we needed was to come out of this game with limited or no injuries. I expect there to be quite a few green "no contact" jerseys this week. It looks like both lines will be dealing with some issues. That was a really physical game. Hopefully, both Jackson and Thomas can return.

Prior to the game, I had little hope of gaining 6 wins and bowl invite. With the offense showing some life, there is definitely some reason to believe now. 3 out of 4 wins is a possibility.

The snaps Dobbs is getting this season will really help him next season. He should come out really strong.

I believe it will. Essentially 8 home games with the other west game not being as tough as the last few years. Also, I think we need to set the early goal of beating OU. They will lose some players, and we will have enough talent to win at home.

I still think OU will be a tough out at home. We are still light years behind Bama. I'll believe we beat Florida when it actually happens. We can't beat them at home when they suck. GA and SC at home will be winnable for sure. I'm not saying we'll be no better just I don't think we'll see a huge increase in the win column. Maybe 7 or so wins.

I think we're a couple more recruiting classes away. And I think these freshmen need to be juniors before we'll be top tier. 2016 should be a breakout year. I dont see next year as much better. Maybe a little but not much.

Eh, I disagree. Dobbs maturing along with the O-line will change the landscape as to how this team does moving forward. We needed a mobile QB for the read option and now we have one. Our skill players are as good as anyone else in the country. We are adding Kamara and Preston Williams to an already lethal group of WRs and RBs. The defense is there. Again, need some more seasoning. We add a couple of high level DTs next year as well. I'm all for cautious optimism, but the only thing holding us back this year has been our offensive woes. We were an O-line away from coming into last night's game at 5-2. We aren't as far away as some of you are suggesting.

This discussion kind of took a different turn, but that's ok. I never said not to scheme for his abilities. All I said was that he and Cooper have a little different skill set, and it's easier for Bama to get him in space. I understand that North is physical, and he should be fed the ball. He just won't have the same impact as Cooper does on those short throws. Cooper has the speed. I agree with slants and such. North kind of reminds me of Dez Bryant.

Completely amazed at the performance of the OL with Dobbs in the game.

1) he knows how to avoid taking a sack, so that helps

2) the push they were getting in the run game was surprising and unlike anything we have seen all year

I agree. We have several posters that could take a good class 3-A Tennessee high school team and beat anyone they play in the SEC. They are wasting their lives working mediocre jobs making only $80,000 to $100,000 per year when they could go into coaching and make $3-5 million per year. I don't understand their reasoning.
:)

VN altruism on display. :)

Dobbs played really well, however let's not crown this team yet. We have to go to USCe and perform. They will be looking for revenge for last season. We have to play sound football in that hostile environment.

One thing is certain. No one will ever convince me this run game can be executed without the threat of a running QB

Saban's comment about Tennessee fans being mad because he left us and we know he's a good coach couldn't be more wrong.

We were mad at how he left.

That's behind us now. I feel like last night we kinda moved on. FINALLY (me included)

The difference is the defense has to pause because of a threat of Dobbs keeping it.

They will look better from now on.

With talent Kiffin calls a good game. I will say this. Rebuilding in the context of playing the best opposition is the only way to do it. Beginning to see that a break through may be possible. I think going with Worley and senior leadership was the right call at the beginning of the season. Seems like the gears have been shifted. Love to see the Vols run the table.
