'15 TN TE Kyle Oliver (UT Signee 2/4/15)

So we would have like 8 on the roster at a time?

Yea that's alot but maybe two don't workout and two redshirt. Maybe one flips position. They don't all pan out but everyone keeps saying that the TE position is essential to Bajakian's offense.

We have to lose 15% percent of the roster each assuming we sign 25 on average.... To stay below 85.

We'll be alright if his scholarship slot goes elsewhere this year. It's Isaac Nauta, (Picou and Smith's teammate) that we need to focus on in the 2016 class

He's moving down to Florida after his season is over. Virtual FSU lock.

I wouldn't call anyone an FSU lock right now. Lets see what the fallout is from all the Winston garbage and the admin and police turning a blind eye to criminal behavior. I'm not sure how a parent could be comfortable trusting the staff in the role of proxy parents right now.

There was a note on VQ in the last couple of days that said Tennessee is still pushing hard for Chris Clark (Michigan commit). A lot can happen between now and February. Really like Kyle as a player, though.

We've already got a beast of a TE committed for the next class in Darel Middleton if he can just stay focused off the field and in the classroom. He's the best athlete in the state for '16 class imo. He's a game-changing type of guy which is not something you can say about many TE prospects. I hope he can keep his head on straight bc we need him to be a Vol. Another great looking TE prospect is Gabe Angel, he's got a boatload of potential and I'd really like to land him as well. Both guys are in state as well iirc which can do nothing but help our chances with them (unless it's memphis of course).

Oliver was always a weird pick-up to me. He's never really dominated like you would expect a 6'5" WR/TE to do.

Honestly, I wouldn't care if he flipped.

I honestly don't know one way or the other but it could be because of the offense he plays in. They may not utilize their TEs or the passing game in general but like I said that's just a guess. It's hard to gauge the potential of HS TE prospects at times imo. Ethan Wolf didn't put up great stats in HS because of the offense he played in and he has turned out to be a great player for us thus far.

Oliver seems to have the potential though. He's a good athlete with good size. He's the kind of guy the coaches can mold into what they are looking for from their TEs bc of the skill set he brings to the table. You never know...he could end up being the next Eric Ebron who was also a 3 star coming out of HS. They're very similar looking prospects coming out of HS:

Kyle Oliver

Eric Ebron

I don't know much about Oliver but I was a bit surprised we took his commitment so early in the process.

I agree, and I hate to seem like the "didn't want him anyway" type but Oliver isn't blazing fast like most of those freak TE's and he has a problem with dropping the football.

Same here... I think Clark is a much better TE prospect and I've never been a fan of Oliver's lack of production in games..

Clark has been committed to what 3 different schools? It's not who's better, it's who is someone we can get that we like enough to take.

Fwiw Oliver isn't a TE, he's an H-Back.

Only way he flips is due to them taking his scholarship. He is sold on Tennessee and loves Butch.
