I Remember.......

We spent the summer with the top rolled down
Wished ever after would be like this
You said I love you babe, without a sound
I said I'd give my life for just one kiss
I'd live for your smile and die for your kiss

Remember yesterday - walking hand in hand
Love letters in the sands - I remember you
And through the sleepless nights, through every endless day
I wanna hear you say, "I remember you."

I remember spending summers at my grandmother's farm when my cousin and I would strip silk off the corn, roll it up in newspaper and smoke it.

I thought you might have been from here originally. Was gonna recommend a book by Cormac McCarthy. He attended UT in the 50's and later wrote Suttree that some say is autibiograhical. It takes place in Knoxville in the early 50's and mentions a lot of places around town, down on the river, in and out of South Knox and Happy Holler. Neat look at Knoxville back then.

Thanks. I will get a copy. My wife is from Knoxville and has many relatives still living there including several in South Knoxville.

I think you and she will enjoy it. I read it about twice a year. Mentions the old market house, the houses/bars on Front Street, several well known South Knox bootleggers, but a great story overall.

I remember my dad would purchase a small Coke-a-Cola when his windshield would have built up film from the dirt roads, he would shake it up and spray it on windshield .... He swore this cleaned it off ....
