Lack of experience. It takes time to adjust to the college game regardless of how talented a player may be.
Yeah, like the many 4/5 stars who were invaluable to us:
Chris Donald
Ben Martin
Pat Martin
Paul Harris
LaRon Harris
Ruben Mayes
Brent Vinson
Brent Schafer
Jerod Askew
Deion Bonner
Darius Myles
Davante Borque
Omari Phillips
DeAnthony Arnett
Izauea Lanier
Daniel Brooks
All extremely valuable pieces. And that's not even half of who I could have named
I personally would take Ben Martin off that list. Player who fought through an injury plagued career and was still a multi-year starter, unlike those other guys. True VFL IMOYeah, like the many 4/5 stars who were invaluable to us:

Not right to include Drae Bowles in this group. He is still on the team. He is not done yet.
Jonathan Mapu was solid and playing at SEC level his first two years. Something changed after his 2 missionary years. Maybe found something more important. Also should not be on that list.
Left off the hood pothead that was a kiffin 5* safety that dooley kicked off the team...janzen jackson. Nu'keese was a 4* too I think? Why leave the kiffin recruits off your list? Oh yeah, Bryce Brown and the #1 apb from that year? Heck majority of his class screwed UT.
Yeah, I know you didn't. I was just reinforcing that he was still a multi-year starter even through a bunch of injuries. My apologies if it sounded like a self-righteous jab. But your point does stand and it's ridiculous to put all your evaluation of a player into his stars. Nationdom is just trolling, still. No argument with that here. I included him to make a point that stars don't matter, and a number of different factors can play as to why they don't matter. No slight towards Ben

A few these guys don't really belong...Schaeffer played pretty well in 2004. Mapu was a good player..but you could have mentioned Raymond Henderson and didn't and near the end of Fulmer's tenure there were a lot of guys like Adam Myers-White that weren't bad players and did contribute some but just weren't what we thought we were getting when they committed.

Your last sentence was the point of the list lol
