'15 NC DT Shy Tuttle (UT commit 9/26/14)

Why? It doesn't matter what class they are. If they're ready and better than everyone else at their position, then hell yes you throw them out there.

I agree with this but you don't want to take the chance on said recruit hitting a wall, not panning out, etc.. If he is better them great stick him out there, but you would like to have somebody to lean on in the chance that he doesn't work out. BTW I fully expect Mckenzie and Tuttle to be studs just talking in general

He was highly rated and has now had a couple years in a elite college program...he is going to be a force.

He isn't that big. About 285 to small IMO I see him being a good depth guy but I don't think he will ever be a big player for us I hope I'm wrong.

Even though I don't agree with your logic, I think Obrien could have a good season for us. In fact, he better have a good season because he may be the only DT we have left at this rate.

I don't think Obrien will be an All-SEC DT for us. I do think he will be a solid player for us. I think he can do more for us than Hood or McCullers.

I posted this in the football talk thread but it may be more relevant here:

Interesting comments supposedly made by Doug Matthews this morning that I saw on the football forum.

"Our best unit and is championship calibre is the wr position. We all knew this. On the bright side, Hendrix and Barnett are better than advertised. The thinking was that they were brought in to grow into tackles and move inside. They are so athletic that they will remain as ends. This was super news. However, it changed our recruiting priorities.
Jakobson might be redshirted. I can see this personally as he is raw and not ready. Creamer might be redshirted. Need to find a position for him.
Now, the concern is that he is not very optimistic about the cornerback position and alluded to the fact that it and qb was the two most important position this recruiting cycle."

My additional thoughts:
Assuming this is accurate it seems to solidify that the staff will push hard for Settle as well and try to have a DT haul of KM, Tuttle, Settle and Picou (sorry if I misspelled any of those) - especially interesting that Hendrix and Barnett being athletic enough for DE caused the coaches to have to adjust their recruiting needs.

So what you're saying is we're have ourselves a couple of Shaun Ellis's on campus? Oh snap!

Lack of experience. It takes time to adjust to the college game regardless of how talented a player may be.

Normally i would agree with this considering D lineman take a long time to develop the strength they need to compete. But McKenzie is built like a Komatsu D575A and as long as he's not a liability to jump offisdes every snap or not follow the gameplan and shows up in shape he'll play in the first quarter of the first game next year.

You can bet the mortgage on that.
