That would have been determined on three things Hubbs stepping up.....Richardson being the player from the tourney and if Zo could have gotten some experienced bigs during the late signing period. It definitely could have happened but it wasnt the logical expectation and I feel the talent level was higher his first yr on campus. I think Zo knew this and played into him leaving for Cal.
You've used this argument a lot "sunshine pumping" and yes it is truthful, people want to believe.
I do believe you have gone out of your way to counter the Sunshine Pumping Mentality. Which is ok, but extreme at times which puts everybody on the defense.
I have a paypal account if you want to float me a dollar.
This. Everyone is giving Butch so much props because of how well he has recruited and turned the roster around in so short of time. I still think the football team only goes 6-6 next year but Football takes a lot longer to turn around. So far he is doing and saying all the right things and it's awesome to have a coach that bleeds orange so much. The previous two, Kiffin and Dooley you could tell they could careless about UT and the tradition. I fell super confident in both of our coaches and I think things are finally looking up again!
I completely understand the recruiting part, and he's absolutely killing it, but at some point you have to win. 6-6 would be progress and a great sign IMO, 5-7 and I'm gonna start getting skeptical, 4-8 and I will honestly worry.
Maybe that bothers some people, but it's my honest opinion.
I just meant I disagree about him thinking he had a 15-17 win team next season as to why he left.
I will worry with 4-8 and 5-7 but I also dont feel that u realize just how far down Dooley had drug the program. If this was another era or another conference than I would feel differently but the SEC is extremely stacked right now and OOC is strong too.
He may not have but I feel it played into it. He had pretty much two wasted recruiting classes with Stokes going pro and then his next two is not exactly looking special. It would have taken a heck of a coaching job to get us back in the tourney and if he had of been able to do it would have gained my respect some.
With the grad transfer market, and coaching changes allowing so many kids out of LOI's, he likely would've added a few more pieces to next years squad.
I know this opinion also won't be popular, but I've heard he really encouraged Jarnell to go pro, and informed Jarnell about Cal. He made it clear that regardless of Marquette or Cal he was unlikely to be the coach at Tennessee next year. So it's at least possible that if Martin had been full Tennessee Jarnell would've also returned.
Water under the bridge at this point, and no worries if we don't agree. I just maintain that I was not one who thought next year was a 15 win year under Zo so that all of a sudden makes it ok for Tyndall, I expected a pretty good year next season.
If that's the case them that means that he was recruiting a player for cal on UT's dime..... How can u be ok with that?
Didn't mean stokes.....I meant the king.....if that happened with stokes then that means that he recruited the king on tenn dime for another program.
That's not what BTO just said
