whether these guys played with Fulmer or for Fulmer, he's the guy they know, that can't be overlooked.

i guess it's a good thing that they would feel inclined to defend him, and it goes to the point that CPF is always driving home about "family atomsphere" etc.....

but at the end of the day, the emotion has to be removed from the decision, which is tough, no matter wht side you're on.

i know this though, i'm sure Mike Hamilton didn't want to wake up and read that in the paper this morning.

it's bad enough that a good many fans and alumni are asking questions, it doesn't help when former players basically draw a line in the sand.......if he was fired, how would hat affect the "tn football family" as it relates to these guys comging back to Knoxville, interacting with players etc......how much does that matter anyway?

i honestly don't know......but for whatever reason, this just doesn't give me the warm fuzzies. i get the feeling more and more that it's NOT speculation that this program is at a cross roads and MH is standing in the middle looking down each road, and saying.......ok, which way do i go now?

All joking aside... this is looking like it could be the most toxic off-season environment in Tennessee football history. You have a divided fan base, divided alumni, and probably some team members that have questions about the abilities of our coaching staff (i.e. the situation with Hardesty).

Even if Fulmer manages to sneak into Atlanta through the back door, it still won't change the mind of many that the only way to right this ship is if we get a new captain. Firing Chavis or Cutty (or both) will not bring the people together. Expect to see more antics like this in the spring and fall practices. And if we start off September with a losing record (which is very likely), then you will see blood on the streets of Knoxville.

We are entering uncharted waters...

This is a bad situation all around. It is only going to get uglier now. No telling what went through Hambone's mind when he opened the paper this morning.

i would agree with both of those statements.

the only way it dosen't is if they win out.......incl. the SEC c'ship and bowl game.

i'm like y'all, winning the East most years, would at least be something to hang your hat on, give yourself a chance to win the conf. this year, if there ever was a year, feels like back dooring in, and we still have 3 to go before it's a done deal.............ugh...........

like i said yesterday.....i want to feel like i did watching the GA game. or like i did last year during hte Cal game. or 3 years ago watching the A&M bowl game......

other than those 3 games, it truly has been a struggle.

it does make you wonder, who instigated this, and who decided who to contact for this endorsement.......

oh well........nothing good can come of this.

Too often, we've felt like we did after Air Force last year or USC this year.

Sadly, that is enough to satisfy the Kool-aid drinkers enough to where they feel that as long as Vols are winning games, Fulmer is the best man for the job.

When you have a divided fanbase and you have one side debating whether a win or a loss is best for the program in the long term, you can't put that genie back in the bottle unless you start off with a clean slate.

I get what you are saying, and I can clearly see the reasoning behind wanting a change, but the people that are debating whether it's best to win or lose a game have no clue IMO.

But a man should be proud to know that so many other men are willing to stand up for him.

It's always best to win. No question hands down the fans should pull for UT to win regardless of how they feel towards the head coach.

We are not Arkansas
