TN HB-1547 on 'student religious freedom'

Hypocritical bigots being hypocritical bigots.

Because I know exactly what you're referring to, excellent, well-reasoned post! And what do you have to say about a student's defense of the Old Testament, a book I might remind you that defends murder, rape, slavery, plundering, profiteering, genocide, misogyny, and pork eater discrimination? Do you find this objectionable or offensive? Do you find this bigoted? Personally, I like to eat my BBQ sandwich in peace without some bigoted peep telling me I'm violating the law.

And just to clarify about the last part, I honestly don't have to worry about being persecuted for eating BBQ because Christians have conveniently left this out of their Old Testament recourse to prove their contemporary moral points.

Whatever hoss. I didn't say they do no good, I offered the the millions killed due to religion does not outweigh the "tremendous" amount of good.

Of course I'd accept help from a church if I had no other alternative, I'm anti religion, not anti common sense. I don't see how your question is relevant, people can tolerate amazing pain when it comes to self preservation. :)

And I proves you wrong but you ignores it. You're a very hypocritical person. Accept help from those you despise. It's very relevant because you have consistently said bad things about religious people. Would you have the same feelings about religious people if that happened?

Another question, say that same church that helped you in your time of need needed help with a rebuild or something, would you help them out?

A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that is acquired through the*method, and repeatedly confirmed through observation and experimentation.

Now where has it been repeatedly confirmed through observations and experimentation that man came from a monkey?

Answer it has not.

The continuous and conscious denial of reality fascinates me to no end.

You know for a fact the man in the mirror you keep looking at is in denial. Stop looking at him, calm down, use the brain the Living God gave you. That should help you think more clearly. ..:)

Fossils? Carbon dating?? Anthropology??? EVOLUTIONARY BIOLOGY?????

MOOOOOOOOOM

All Satan.

Tangential, but honestly, I love the figure of Satan. He's just curious about how stuff works and the world, not to mention human beings. Seriously, and this might offend some people (but who cares; it's obviously not stopping this bill being pushed through), Satan shares an awful lot in common with Protestantism. This may seem like anathema, but it's not. Think about it. What is Protestantism? A dissension from the Church (Catholic, and a central authority of power) that claims that each individual should be able to take things into their own hands, interpret spiritual matters and scripture for themselves. What is Satan? A dissension form God (central authority of power) that claims that each individual should be able to take things into their own hands, interpret spiritual matters and scripture for themselves.

If anything, Protestantism has done an injustice to Satan; not the other way around. There's a reason why Milton (an unabashed Protestant) celebrates the figure of Satan in Paradise Lost. He too saw the connection.

Not at all. Honestly, what is lewd, offensive, or objectionable material? The Bible tells us that neither slavery nor genocide is necessarily bad. Yet, I'm sure some students will seek recourse in the Old Testament. Why isn't this objectionable? I find this much more objectionable, quite frankly, than a student whose religion promotes drug use. But I guess Rastafaris and certain Native American peyote religions don't count under this law. Meanwhile, those who persecute against people who eat pork get to run amok.

I don't see how you think I'm stretching. This is just common sense. Who gets to decide what religious perspective is lewd, offensive, or objectionable? This is a legal nightmare, and it won't hold up in courts, no matter how much you think I hate Christians. And by the way, I don't hate Christians. I do, however, despise the Old Testament and Paul. I don't think Christians have ever fully known what to do with either one of them.

Common sense lol. You speak as if that is prevalent in the education system.

But here's the thing. No matter what, someone will find something objectionable, lewd, offense, etc. I find it offensive that students were not allowed to wear American flag apparel on the 5th of May. But the most offensive thing I see? The fact that the majority of the people in this country make the claim to be religious, but the extreme minority here gets to object and their objections prevail over the majority. Oh, I'm so sorry someone's feelings got hurt. Perhaps a box of tissue will help.

Big picture here? It is a molehill that is being made into a mountain by those who want nothing more than to kill the beliefs of those that happen to make a choice to be religious. And this whole nonsense that students are going to start preaching and using schools as a platform to advance a religious cause is just stupid. And the outrage that anyone would dare actually use the Lord's name in a formal setting causes the worst temper tantrums I've ever seen even though, again, the majority of this nation believes in a supreme being.
