Same sex marriage ban ruled unconstitutional in Michigan

1. I don't oppose polygamy because it violated the first amendment to do so.

2. They are most likely bigoted against this lifestyle. Not heterosexuality in general, but polygamy.

1. First Amendment? Don't be a moron and use the Free Expression Clause in the First Amendment to justify polygamy (if that's what you're angling for here). We could go back and forth for months on what constitutes free expression in a civil society.

2. Now I'm confused. People who oppose gay marriage are labeled as bigots and homophobes. They "hate" gay and are "fearful" of gays and lesbians. But now people who oppose polygamy are not hateful or fearful of heterosexuals.

How does that work?

I'll give you a hint: It doesn't work. But it's another lame attempt in a long line of lame attempts used to justify gay marriage.

What makes you say that? I love me some Jesus.

Seriously, what's a bigot and why am I one?

For real? I think this conversation is a waste of my time.

a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc. : a bigoted person; especially : a person who hates or refuses to accept the members of a particular group (such as a racial or religious group)

Bigot - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary

You should probably go back and reread the thread...or you could just read this highlight:

Seeing these filthy perverts and their make-believe families makes me sick. And the innocent victims, the children, will suffer.

Myth #1, but thanks for following the playbook.

10 Anti-Gay Myths Debunked | Southern Poverty Law Center

That's actually not where I was going, but the fact you listen to anything Mark Potok and the SPLC puts out is scary in and of itself.

I was trying to get you to say something like, "Of course not. Who the hell thinks it's okay to molest children." Then I would get to claim that you are a bigot against a certain group -- in this case pederasts and pedophiles.

I do, however, concede that in my view homosexuality is unhealthy, deviant sexual behavior. And it's not something we should be accepting of, nor should it be taught that it's okay for boys to lie down with boys and girls to lie down with girls. Mommy and daddy are normal, and there are people who have a confusion in their head. Some people are sexually confused. There are some men who think that they're women, and there are some women who think that they're men.

Gets used over and over again. Never mind the fact that pedophiles identify overwhelmingly as heterosexual. I guess it's just easy to put it all on the gays.

The gaypocalypse is still on track. Be prepared.

Again, that's not where I was going. But I'm not surprised you and Huff thought I was equating homosexuality with pedophilia. They are different types of sexual dysfunction.

I was simply pointing out that "bigot" is the new "racist." It's a word that gets thrown around just as much as, if not more than, the 'R' word.

Children are minors and I am under the impression they aren't consenting when they are molested. If opposing sexual violence makes me a bigot, so be it. Surely you don't see this as a 1 to 1 comparison.

I put as much value on the SPLC as I do any academic journal. Since gays seem to frighten you, I'm not surprised the SPLC does as well. Is there anything that doesn't upset your delicate sensibilities?

According to your definition, they are.

a person who strongly and unfairly dislikes other people, ideas, etc. : a bigoted person; especially : a person who hates or refuses to accept the members of a particular group (such as a racial or religious group)

That's very hateful and bigoted of you. I'm surprised you haven't gone Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson on me and screamed racism. That seems to be in vogue these days.

I really have no delicate sensibilities left, other than trying to protect what little remains of a once great nation.

Yeah. We were such a moral people when we were enslaving Africans, murdering Indians, and interning the Japanese. Sure do miss the good ol' days.

Black Africans and North African Moors were busy enslaving other Africans, and the Injuns (immigrants from Europe and Asia during the last ice age) were too busy killing their own and selling out their own people for guns, wampum, and booze to care about whitey. But the internment of the Japanese was uncalled for.

Your paragraph is the same s*** I'd expect to hear in a freshman-level seminar on one of America's fine (putrid) institutions of higher learning. After all, what else are these abject failures going to do with a Ph.D. in women's studies, gender & sexuality studies, ethnic studies, race studies, Afro-American studies, LGTBQ studies, etc.? Hey, did I leave any letter out of "LGTBQ"? I want to make sure I'm all tolerant and inclusive in my list. Otherwise, I might be called a bigot.

EDIT: Damnit, I left out Chicano/a studies!

Oh, so it's totally cool.

Honestly, do you have no sense of irony? You were the one talking about intellectual maturity and you just keep going off.

I know you are too closed off to modify your position, but I like to keep you going like this because you are a doing a great job of chasing off the fence-sitters. :pepper:

Don't go putting words in my mouth. I'm merely pointing out that your diatribe is hovering around the white liberal guilt crowd. And really, it's getting old. It's like throwing out the race card. That card is maxed out.

Dude, I'm not trying to spread liberal guilt. I'm trying to say the good ol' days were awful. Nothing in modern day America is remotely as evil as slavery was, I'm just wondering what you mean by your comments about the decline of our greatness.

Your point about what was going on in Africa is irrelevant to morality of slavery in the US. Why even bring it up, unless you think in some way we were justified in holding slaves?
