Yea that's being reported by most sports outlets. I've read it no less than 3 times this morning.

Sorry, I am not meaning to pass that off, but mornings are busy for me, and I had not read that. Got it from the Memphis side.

No problem man. I was saying that because usually when so many pick up on the story, its pretty close.

Serious question for all you recruitniks. Who is the better recruiter, Smart or Pruitt?

Great question. So I did some research. Unfortunately, historically Smart has proven better. As someone said (above), ask again in 2 years.

Here are Pruitt’s recruiting rankings for the last 5 years.

1st number is national ranking
2nd number is SEC ranking
3rd number is where Pruitt would have ranked on the UT staff for that year:

2013 1/1/1
2014 36/19/3
2015 37/17/4
2016 28/71/3
2017 50/149/7

Trend is not good, but the good news is, he retained Thigpen and Gillespie. Both have been top recruiters for us, and consistently out-recruited Pruitt in recent years.

Substituting Smart for Pruitt:

2013 2/1/1 (finished second nationally to Pruitt.)
2014 3/2/1 (2nd to Bryan McClendon at Georgia)
2015 23/11/3 (Stripling and Elder finished higher)
2016 HC at Georgia. Recruiting class ranked #6
2017 HC at Georgia. Recruiting class ranked #3
2018 HC at Georgia. Class currently ranked #1
2019 Way-to-early-to-tell. Class currently ranked #1

Winning will help to equalize this.

We didn't keep Thigpen.

Thigpen has not been retained. Also, most of the drop in Pruitt's ranking as a recruiter can probably be attributed to him becoming a DC and thus being listed as primary recruiter on fewer players. Bottom line, both are great recruiters.

Yeah, his recruiting ranking will be based on his ability to recruit good recruiters, etc. moreso than his ability to recruit individual players, from now on. So far, it looks like a home run.

Edit: Stealing players from the state of Georgia counts for bonus points.

A toast to the people in this thread who resist the urge to banter with the most notorious troll in the land. May you be blessed for keeping the peace.
