North Korea on the move

We're into China for too much money for them to consider anything. China is getting tired of DPRK and tolerates them only to the extent that they wouldn't want the DPRK toppled for border security issues.

The number of boots the US has is not as relevant with the force multipliers we've developed. Talk of a draft is silly.

China is an instigator in the India/ Pakistan scenario. China claims that Pakistan seceded the Kashmir region to China in 1964.

China in the DPRK scenario doesn't want to deal with the millions of DPRK refugees. They already have an issue with illegal immigration. Given that China had a few billion that they try to support in a socialist based system, they do not want to add unskilled workers who would be dependent on assistance to their population. Eventually, the economic growth rate of China will slow down and they will not be able to subsidize everything that they do. If China is smart they will start to wean subsidies now before they encounter economic turmoil within the next couple decades.

I know it is due to the situation on the ground demanding it, but I have always thought it would have been more logical for us to have become a close ally with India than Pakistan.

We are a closer ally with India. They are out strategic balance to China in Asia. We only ally with Pakistan for GWoT purposes.

Pakistan is part of the process of bottling up Iran which has been ongoing since the early 80s. You look at our "friends" in the Middle East and Central Asia and the conflicts we've fought since the end of the Cold War. Nearly all surround Iran and have kept it in check to an extent.

But that's the thing, I think with all the advancement in technology human soldiers wouldn't hold as much value. Each one of those countries could launch a war head that would knock out large portions of our country. I see it more as a war of complete destruction rather than conquer and occupying.

Nobody is getting a warhead to hit this continent unless our entire BMDS is taken down.

Don't you think that's what China is currently doing with their space program. They probably have / are close to developing a way to disable every electronic device our military currently relies on. Along with the hypersonic deliverance system they just unveiled, wouldn't take much to coordinate various attacks at once leaving us with zero defense options. Completely hypothetical situation but I don't think China or Russia really care to have us as an international super power for ever.

But as another poster pointed out, it's not hard for a terrorist group to put a nuclear device on a private aircraft and fly it over a target. Getting it into the country isn't easy, but is not complicated either.

MAD and the BMDS keeps us safe from all out strategic nuclear attack from another nation state. But the third party terror groups with WMDs are a concern these days.

We're decades away from that being a reality and Jesus is coming back before that happens anyway.

Anyone can land on the sun. Anyone. The amazing thing about his trip was the pure genious in traveling during the evening hours to avoid the immense heat from the sun. We Americans , would have never thought of that.

You do realize that we are not static. We have been developing technology in secret, with very deep pockets, with the best computers, brightest minds, for many decades now. Keep in mind we have released anything revolutionary new in a long time (hell our stealth technology was developed in the mid 1970's and is till the best in the world). Not to mention we have been developing countermeasures to all technology we develop. It is safe to say that the ought to be much more scared of what we haven't released than we are of their publicly known technology.

I was looking at shotguns this weekend. I handled a Benelli..well built weapon, was sturdy..felt good. Then I looked at a Mossberg. Again, well built, sturdy. Lastly I looked at one made in China..felt like it would fall apart after a shot or two. Chinese quality in all aspects of their manufacturing is garbage...They will EMP themselves before they do anyone else..if their economy hasnt collapsed by then.

Also keep in mind China is doing now what the US did 50 years ago...

If any of you think the Chinese will mount an military offensive attack against the U.S., simply put, you are a simple minded hilljack. Please turn up your Fox News broadcast loud enough to drown out the voices in your head.

You're forgetting Taiwan and our association with them...

Fun, it's been too long since the last lil' Kim episode. N Korea is like that little kid at school that runs around showing his wee-wee to everyone and everyone just understands he's the special needs child and laughs it off.

North Korea in a nutshell......no pun intended.
