It's gonna be a long season

afraid you might be right - Jacksonville state held GT to 300 yards of offense --- SC, Vandy, Ala, Fla, Ga, LSU, much better defense than we have. Looking somewhat dicey.

You have to compare other things that happen in a game. The time of possession was balanced in the game with JSU keeping the ball over 8 minutes for one drive. That keeps GT off the field. JSU had 3 turnovers. GT had 70 yards in penalties verses 37 against Tennessee. 3 of the early drives in the first half, GT was penalized on 2 and fumbled (but recovered) on another. Penalties are drive killers.

When GT got rolling they scored touchdowns on 5 straight possessions.

Here's another piece of ignorance for you:

The guy that did most of the jet sweeps yesterday for State is a burner. He has true breakaway speed. But, since he plays for Indiana State he should suck and be slow, which in a lot of peoples weak minds means that since they had a least some success with it, the Vols must suck.

Fahr Butch, call in the dogs, piss on the fire, and go home. The season is now ruined. :shakehead:

Do I detect a little Gen Patton in your closing statement?

There are very few teams playing like they want to right now. Even Alabama got gashed yesterday. Wonder if USC fans are whining about winning?

I dont see it has complaining but rather using current performance as an indicator of what the team might do in the future. Good thing is, this week is one of those games where no stat matters as long as you win.

Time to play with 3 safeties. Seems like a nice young man, but Jumper can't play SEC football.

Both Tennessee and GT played a very long and physical game on Monday and both came out on a short week and did not look good. Do you think there may be some correlation?

Unless things change, I see us losing three out of the last four games. We have no passing game, a terrible secondary, no pass rush and a coach that is clueless. That game yesterday against one of the worst teams in the country, made me want to claw my eyes out. We should have been able to submit our will on Indiana State and we struggled to move the football against them.

Outside of Callaway our receivers are horrendous and that's putting it nicely. I also wasn't impressed with our oline against an undersized Indiana State team. USC, UF, and UGA are probably gonna beat us and then we travel to Tuscaloosa and we'll get beat by 40 in that game. If we lose next week to UF, get the liquor ready cause we'll probably a 6-6 team.

Much agreement. That game made me believe Butch will get fired this year, which is a year ahead of schedule.

His timeout on fourth down to then come out and punt...made me shake my head. I didn't care what his decision was, but that it took a timeout against ISU to make It, is horrendous.

Agree and what ever happened to the QB sneak in college football.
Never understood the logic of tossing the ball back 7 yards when you need a half. Not much confidence in the oline I guess.
Gutless Wonder came to mind on that play.

Gee i can be brutal but, thats ridic. The passing game IS a bright spot. We should have run up and down ISU. That, and the pressure they got on us is disconcerting.

Defense? Geez. Where do I start? playing off the LOS. Safeties avoiding hits. Big plays. 0 pressure, zero. We arw vanilla but we have the talent to get pressure with 4. Injuries. Same old same old. And the most concerning thing??? Refusal to play depth. I give us losses to fL and Vandy this year, and I dont want to hear talent isnt there excuse. Shoop is way overpaid. and hasnt delivered near his 1.16 million salary. its a joke.

I believe a loss to Florida will start Vols on downward path. The way they have looked so far has then losing to Georgia, South Carolina, and Bama to start off 0-4 in SEC with loss to Florida. Again I said the way they have looked so far. Things can change

Only reasonable folks will get the correlation. I suspect both spent their attention on each other and not on two teams they should easily beat 5 days later.

But for some the sky is falling but it will always be falling. We could beat FL, UGA and SC and be undefeated before the BAMA game and some would still have the team losing 5 out of the last 6.

Agendas within this fan base are terrible.

So you are mad because he decided not to go on 4th and 1. Seriously???

Florida game doesn't mean much. Didn't last year anyway.

Whatever. Ending a 11 game losing streak didn't mean anything? The 2nd half didn't mean anything? The 38 unanswered points didn't mean anything? Tell that to a standing room only crowd at Neyland Stadium that was close to as loud as I can ever remember it.

Well the real season begins now so we're going to start finding out. Team has a lot of warts. I'm afraid they're going to start showing up next week. UF having two weeks to get a game plan together for this defense is worrisome. They're going to attack the edges, that you can take to the bank.

Maybe you missed it. UF is planning for a hurricane NOT UT. Sheesh

Only our fanbase would be complaining about being 2-0.

That's not remotely true and you know it. For example, Florida fans were calling for McElwain's job last year after a second straight SECCG appearance and loss to Alabama in his first two years as their head coach.

If fans didn't see major concerns with our defense right now, on the heels of the major defensive issues we had last year, you'd be hearing little to no complaints. Fans want to see this team play sound, fundamental football in hopes that it will have a chance to play in its first SECCG since 2007, and that's just not happening right now on the defensive side of the ball....being ranked 127th out of 130 teams nationally right now in run defense is concerning and worthy of discussion on a fan message board.

Im happy after watching a Vol win. I Love this time of year we only get 12 or 13 games. I know we need to improve in areas as do all the other teams. I check in here to get updates on the team I love. After reading Volnation it ruins my day.I know I need to do it less.

Just to finish my rant, please name how many starts we have across our team.

Then when you get back to me, your head better be out of your ass.

Well, since you asked. May have missed a couple here and there, but on offense, prior to the 2 games we've played in 2017, we came into the season with 164 starts on offense, 102 on defense and 87 for our defensive specialists (Medley, Evan Berry and Trevor Daniel), not including our long snapper and holder.

So, 353 starts coming into the season all together.
