Is Derek Jeter done?

Best shortstop is Ripken Jr in my opinion. Only middle infielder in the 3000/400 club and he had a hell of a glove. He had a higher FDG% than Ozzie Smith.

Of course you would.

Has nothing to do with being a Boston fan either, I can put my bias aside.

When people throw around the term all-time great, I just gotta shake my head with Jeter.

For most of his career his defense has been below average, even though they just keep handing him Gold Gloves for whatever reason.

Offensively he has benefited greatly from htting at the top of very potent lineups his whole career.

15 HR/ 75 RBI/ 30 Dbls are his career averages.

A .313 BA is pretty solid.

You tell me these are numbers of an all-time great?

Give me a leadoff hitter with those average numbers and I'll have an all time great.

Suck it Red Sox fans. Jeter blows the ugly balding midget out of the water in their best years.

Johnny Damon had a remarkable career with the Royals, A's, Sox, and Yanks.

3K hits HAS to be done during a long career. It tell us that the players' production has been consistent throughout and he's always found his way into a starting lineup. Over 17 years is pretty darn impressive.

Chip has been injury prone for a long, long time.

Chipper played 150+ games a year, every year, until he got to be about 32 or 33 years old. Which is right about when baseball players almost invariably started showing their age until all of the, ah, modern training techniques were developed.

I have no idea if he used anything or not. His body hasn't ever changed appreciably. He certainly doesn't seem to have been using HGH in recent years to recover from injury more quickly. His stats didn't suffer once testing was instituted in 2005. He doesn't strike me as somebody who's crafty enough to have been using anything without getting caught. I've no reason to think he's been juicing other than the general suspicion that applies to everybody these days, but it certainly wouldn't stun me if it turned out that he had.

They are comparable players.

They are comended on their gritty toughness and get more praise then they should.

As far as hitting the ball goes, they are even.

Jeter has been overrated for so long on the defensive side of the ball is is absurd. Pedroia is legit.
