If Fulmer thinks people are going to #ComeTogether when he goes out and sticks us with a total crap retread hire such as Les Miles, that no other program will hire, then he is out of his freakin' mind !!!
The ONLY way he gets Tennessee fans to #ComeTogether is to go out and get someone that is a big name hire like a Gruden, Kiffin, or Peterson. Only a big name hire is going to give us enough credibility with recruits to salvage this class, and compete with Georgia and Florida. Anything else is flat garbage and dooms us to being also-ran status in the SEC East for the foreseeable future.
Gruden....
Gruden isn't coming. The Grudenites enjoy the fantasy while Gruden soaks up the attention. Cannot believe people still running with the Gruden thing after getting trolled five years ago.
I'm not running with it, and I don't think for one minute he is coming. I'm just saying that only a big time hire has ANY prayer of getting this fan base to #ComeTogether. Additionally, given the current situation in the SEC East, only a big time, big name, hire will give us the ability to recruit and keep up with Georgia and Florida. Anything less (i.e. Les Miles, Cutcliffe, Tee Martin, Chad Morris, Kevin Steele, Taggart, or any other Google His Name) just ain't gonna cut it, and we'll be right back here in the same spot in 3- 5 years. Winning 6-9 games a year just ain't good enough. Spend whatever it takes, give whatever control it takes to get the absolute very best that can be hired.

I'm curious if you thought Kirby Smart was a "big name" hire? I'm just more interested in your definition of the term.
I'll use Les and Gruden as an example. I can understand why fans would be disappointed in a Miles hire. I can understand why they might be excited for a name like Gruden.
But the truth is, Miles is a safer hire for UT and has a much higher chance of success than Gruden. Miles has been there and done that, and he has done it pretty well. Gruden is the all on black play at the casino.
Miles has absolutely NO SHOT to recruit well enough at Tennessee to compete with UGA or FLA. First of all he is a retread that is 64 years old, who lost his ability to get it done when he was at a freakin' dream program like LSU, amidst some of the most fertile recruiting ground there is. We can't, but IF we could get Gruden, he would absolutely KILL IT in recruiting. He is sports TV superstar with a national name that all the kids know and would want to play for. It would give us instant credibility with the cream of the crop recruits. Getting the very best players, equal to what UGA and FLA will be getting, is 75% of the battle. On top of that, Gruden would absolutely be able to coach up players with far better schemes, than Les Miles has ever dreamed of. You lose all credibility, if you think Les Miles would be a better hire than a Gruden.
I fully understand some of the reservations with Miles. What I don't understand is how he gets retread status while Gruden is just granted legend status. Agree that his name alone would bring the recruits but he'll also need to win (Butch overachieved in recruiting yet failed to win a single SEC game this season). Miles has a much better winning percentage than Gruden and has done it in the SEC.
I would choose Les over Gruden. I'd choose a lot of people over Gruden.
You never answered my question about Kirby Smart.
