Eyes on the Balkans

Yuri very likely has family connections to Ukraine since this entire area was part of the Russian Empire and USSR until 1991.

Stanley likely has ZERO connections to the land in the Balkans and would be better served standing guard on our southern border rather than a provincial border in side Serbia.

Same could be said for Mexicans and Texas guess we better give Texas back in the name of peace.

If we allow the border to be wide open and unprotected while Stanley is either in Serbia or Syria or Ukraine (as an "advisor"), then you may end up seeing that in 2 generations.

Three Kosovo police officers were arrested by Serbian authorities. Kosovo said it happened on Kosovo territory while the Serbs are saying they were in Serbia planning an attack.

They also banned the import of goods from Serbia and urged citizens to avoid traveling to Serbia.

The Office of the High Representative has annulled the recent decisions of the Republika Sprska. Now Dodik is threatening to limit freedom of movement into the area. Also trying to find the source but there are reports on twitter (When its working) that Dodik will hold an independence referendum by the end of the year.
What is your position on that? Are you for it or against it?

Not sure what Bosnian law says regarding secession but pretty sure it would be illegal. They should respect the Dayton Accords instead of potentially starting a new war in the Balkans.

What about the right of self-determination? And what difference should it make if it violates Bosnian law?

You can address either one, even though you are changing the subject. The subject is about the Bosnian Serbs right for self-determination.

We're discussing self-determination that you brought up. How come Bosnian Serbs have a right to self-determination of their future but in your opinion Kosovo and Ukraine can not?

I've never argued that point. My two main points have been:
1. The selective support of these independence movements by The West. If it is OK for Kosovo and Taiwan, then it should be OK for Crimea, Donbas and the Bosnian Serbs.
2. Ukraine has every right to desire joining NATO. But if NATO is truly a defensive alliance, they would not bring them into NATO knowing full well that it presents a security concern to Russia. And Ukraine has every right to want to join the EU. The issue with this, however is that when Yanukovich was faced with this option in 2013, it was a EU invitation that was an all-or-nothing deal where they would join the EU but would have had to turn their back on the Russian economy. Ukraine's best option would have been (then and now) to have free economic relations with both. Once the EU placed those demands on Yanukovich, he turned away from the deal... and rightfully so.

Dodik announced new Steps: We will strengthen the inter-entity Line, I will go to the End - Sarajevo Times

So let me ask you this one more time without you deflecting... Do you have an issue with Bosnian Serbs having a right to self-determination?

As long as they don’t determine to conduct genocide against ethnic minorities stuck in their little enclave.

Think about what you just said. If the Ethnic Russians in those areas were a minority, then there’s no way those areas could have had a majority vote to rejoin Russia.
The king of Oooooooof.......

2010 election map that shows the regions that Yanukovich won. Obviously. there was widespread support for him beyond just "ethnic Russians".
