104.5 hating on Bray

Guys they are the most versatile station around. They cover the vols great. Listen on Sat is great. I cannot stand George Plaster but these guys cover everything reasonably well. Just because they tell things you disagree with does not mean they are doign a pitful job.

Dont get me wrong, i love 104.5. I just get annoyed sometimes. And they really do have a mancrush on James Franklin

Nashville is a pro sports town. Pro sports are almost exclusively the top dog in the pecking order in virtually every pro sports town. Why is Nashville going to be any different?

We love following the Tennessee Titans and the Nashville Predators, in addition to our Tennessee Volunteers. Our world is blessed enough to include two professional sports teams and our favorite college sports program to the east. I have to pinch myself every day to make sure that I am not dreaming. The only way it would be better were if we had a major league baseball team. Then our sports talk would be awesome.

I love listening to 104.5 because they talk about virtually every sport, instead of talking about UT's depth chart and recruiting commitment list ad nauseam.

I can agree with this. I enjoy 104.5, I wish the "hosts" spent more time talking the Vols, but in fairness they do have Brent Hubbs in the AM once a week and in the fall they'll have a weekly segment with Chris Low and of course Coack Doug Matthews on Saturdays.

The problem with that station has always been the slant of the show:

Morning - A TV anchor, A Titan, and a 'topper (as advertised). Mark's a socialist, frank went to UMD, and Kevin hates UT, not even neutral

Afternoon Drive - You have 2 Vandy grads an even when Darren was there, he's a Kentucky grad!!?!

Lunch - This should be your best UT talk with Brent being a UT grad, and I in the early days of the show Clay Travis said he has been a lifelong UT fan and even explained how he could be a UT fan in light of holding a degree from Vanderbilt. And I like Blaine, he is like Frank in his experience, but comes across much more educated than Frank.

104.5 is the best sports talk radio in the state. I don't listen to it to hear them give UT sports a reach around. I listen to it to hear people discuss all kinds of sports and the issues surrounding them. I'm smart enough to know what is truly going on and how to filter out what some people have to say. We get more UT information online than we are ever going to hear on radio.

If you want to hear a sports station recite the UT depth chart 24/7. listen to the Knoxville sports talk stations. They are the worst I have ever listened to anywhere in any market.

I agree 100% i lived in Morristown for 2 years and was so excited to hear more UT coverage. I am as big as a vol fan as there is , but it got old! They had the same idiots call in every day complaining about irrelavent things! 104.5 is a great station. They are up for national awards every year. They are know nation wide for having the highest rateing for market share.

I took so many shots at Marky Mark Howard after he attacked Daniel Hood on air, saying some baseless crap about how he showed no remorse and should never have been given a second chance, that the Dork started sending me personal email (bragging about how they are #1 and the money he was making, lol) All those dorks talk about is the preds, titans and baseball! Its ashame they get the benefit of broadcasting the Vols football games, they have done nothing on air to earn it! 102.5 is going sports and I prey they put those losers at 104.5 out of business! His email is markhat5@hotmail.com! Maybe he is Hatvol???? Give him a howdy do when you get a chance!

The biggest issue I have is the overly positive outlook they pour on the Dores and in the same breath they generally poo poo the Vols. IMO

lol - james franklin is on right now.

UT has not done a very good job of getting out in front of the Nashville community

Spoken like a man who has never been to a home game against the Vols. We own his community.

i have been to every UT/Vandy (since birth) game even the ones ones in 2000 and 2002 in the titans stadium. Which was one of vanderbilts dumbest decisions ever.

Franklin has the whole damn radio station at his practices, meanwhile they cant even get weekly an update from someone in UT athletics dept. Dooley makes one call in a quarter. Thats it.

Boy, I'd tell you to go get laid but you're not old enough to even put a condom on the counter at CVS.

OFFSEASON??? Are you freakin' kidding?? Your YMCA flag football team might not have started but we're 2 weeks from kickoff of the season. They're knee deep into 2 a days while you're still trying to figure out where home room is. OFFSEASON??

You should turn in your man card til youre old enough to know when football season is.

:lolabove: This is so outrageous it's funny, boy. :eek:lol:

Dooley answers questions after every practice (vids are posted here). If they care I'm sure they can get an invite. Don't blame CDD for their failures

and what do you think the ratio of Vol fans to Vandy fans is in Nashville? Their customers need to demand they cover UT and they will

Yesterday about 5:15 I was on the way to pick up my son at football practice when I turned on my car radio. It was set for 97.1 and guess what was on? Joe Fisher, the voice of Vanderbilt athletics, talking about football practice then into basketball where he mentions the team getting ESPN game day for a game and even talked about Vandy golf.

97.1, the flagship station for Vanderbilt, takes a few minutes out of drive time radio to report on Vandy athletics. Funny thing is 97.1 is a MUSIC station, not a sports talk station. And what do we get on UT's flagship station in middle Tennessee? Plaster and Co on their daily debate of 'the Braves are the best team-uh uh, the Mets are the best team-uh uh, the Yankess are the best team'. And lets not forget Willies daily "I agree with you, director". We cant get a 5 minute update on UT football but a music station can give a 15 minute update on Vandy sports.

104.5 is beyond pathetic.

Everybody listens. Very few like what they hear, but theyve got the market cornered. Wish there was an alternative besides turning it off, which happens frequently.

I have heard plenty of UT fans call in and ask why they dont interview DD, and they say that he is not available.

I heard BP and CLK more frequently than DD.

Im sure its a 2 way problem but point is DD is the least heard coach and nash (IMO) is an important city. Franklin is going out of his way to be on every local radio/TV outlet that he can.

While I know its easier for Franklin than DD to get on Nash media. I think DD and the the ath dept should do more with the nash media.

Unless it's ESPN, Dooley isn't doing much of any stuff media related. Does he have a weekly radio spot in Knoxville that isn't carried by Nashville media?

The problem with 104.5 is Plaster, he runs the local shows there. He is a Vandy grad so of course Vandy gets alot of love on all of their shows. He also worked up north for a long time (think Philly) which is a pro town 100% and that is what Plaz wants.

The best thing for Nashville sports talk would be for the new station to run Plaster out of town.

:clapping:

Yep.

I know that everyone is chomping at the bit for the season to start, but what exactly is Nashville radio supposed to talk about all day? Knoxville is several hours from Nashville and 104.5 doesn't have people watching practice. There are no trades, free agent signings, or other transactions that are made like the NFL. Hubbs and Hyams are on quite often in the morning. 3HL talks a lot about college football, but there's really not much to talk about in regards to UT right now. There are no games to talk about, and if I'm not mistaken, they're not talking much of anything about any other college team right now, including Vanderbilt (the hometown team, believe it or not) unless it's related to realignment or NCAA issues. If there's major UT news to talk about, it'll get talked about. But if you're looking for them to breakdown how Curt Maggit looked hitting the tackling dummy or what Zach Rogers needs to do to prevent drops during one-on-ones, you better stream a Knoxville station.

Nashville isn't Knoxville. It's a pro sports town now. The Titans are king (rightfully), the Preds are second, and then there's UT over Vandy.

^^^

106.7 tried and failed but I sure hope someone can actually give some good talk radio in Middle Tennessee. Both 560 and 104.5 are terrible. 104.5 has way too much hockey, baseball and Vandy for me. We are just over 2 weeks until college football season starts and I get in my truck to go home yesterday and Plaster has Dan Uggla on, needless to say I turned the channel as I usually do anytime I try to give The Zone a listen.

Wake up zone live from vandy practice this morning. I think my head is going to explode!:banghead2:

Never fear...the 'gnu guy' at vandie "has a plan"...just like his predecessors. As for this love-fest the nashville media has? It won't last long, folks (same old vandie).
GO VOLS!!!!!!!

2.Vols
3.Preds
4.Who cares
