We need players bad. We haven't been getting them. Why choose us over other sec schools.

Playing time. Some kids wnt to be part of getting UT back. We have very respected coaching staff that a lot of players would like to learn from and trust to play for.

You might want to branch out and look. UT is average.

And yet Botch was 2-3 against you and took you to OT in his first year with only 5 wins in clearly the worst downtime UT had seen in nearly 20 years. Need to do a self check hotrod.

And yet, our recruiting site on the other page is lit up. Offers are going out left and right for 18 and 19 players.

Are you really trying to compare Knoxville, TN favorably with Athens, GA? Not many outside Knoxville are going to side with you. Even if some of those do.

Athens would be a solid 3rd choice among SEC Teams and is close to Atl. Maybe LSU 4th.

Knoxville and Nashville would be the obvious 1 & 2. Which you choose depends on how big a city you want.

Starkville: 14 with a bullet!
Tuscaloosa: 13

Pretty simple.......

Recruits want list.

1-Play from day one. Early and often.
2-Get drafted high into the NFL.
3-Buy Momma a house and finish degree down the road.

This staff has the makings of putting players in NFL> And with the record and numbers of players left, it would be easy to tell them any and all positions are totally open.

Actually there was no wall built by b UTch because V Fox clearly said that Mexico was not going to build that STUPID wall

And look what happened. No wall = all the good players leaving and all the shi++y players from s—- hole states comming in.

Hopefully it is a truthful and straightforward comment from the coaching staff that once you sign your LOI, you have no stars and everything from your previous athletic life means nothing except it just got you into the door. Now, you have the chance to compete against every person on the roster to earn playing time.

Now the real question is, will ALL on the current roster be afforded the same opportunities (for real) and not only be told that they'll get a shot?

The football Atmosphere in the Tennessee Valley is second to none on Fall Saturdays.

Big Orange country is literally orange because of the leaves changing colors 🌅. Beautiful.

Then you got Neyland Stadium and 100,000 + fans. Orange Navy.

Some of the greatest players EVER in the sport of football have played at Tennessee.

They play in the hardest league of football next to the NFL. SEC is the essence of what makes college football special. It is the epitome of pure competition in the sport.

The fans are passionate and loyal.
Knoxville was made for college football. Some say Nashville is the heart of the south. Some say Atlanta. Knoxville is a good in- between place from those two.

The power T flying down the sideline as a Tennessee WR breaks it wide open is an awesome site to experience!

We can be everybody.
And BEAT anybody!

Check the SEC and National Championships if you doubt me.

Great post.

Here's the thing. Year 1 and sometimes year 2 results can be skewed. A new coach can sell a program up and promise the moon, stars and heavenly light. However, on field performance has to match that. Players are looking at:

1. Playing time early
2. National and media attention
3. The chance to get in the NFL
4. How well a coach can sell the above
5. How well a coach can prepare them for #3
6. Facilities/Team Environment
7. Tradition (though not as important as the first three)

#5 is very conditional at the moment. We saw Jones could sell the program, sell playing time, sell the environment, but he just couldn't coach them up and raw talent shined over coaching in certain cases (Dobbs, Barnett, Kamara, etc). But the writing was on the wall there wasn't going to be NFL level production that often.

Pruitt can sell everything Tennessee has to offer, but whether he can coach them up to be NFL level remains to be seen. I have no doubt the past is prologue as he's helped put plenty of players in a position to succeed. But now he's the big dog and has to fight to get them noticed. Basically, players declaring for the draft from Alabama get a hard look from any NFL scout because they are from Alabama and have the championships and record to back it up. An equal player from UT has to fight for it since we don't have that record and championship experience (yet).

He'll get good quality recruiting classes from his first two years. After that, he has to have something in his folder as a head coach to show recruits "Yes, we can put you in a position to get noticed. Yes, we can help get you drafted like we did Player X, Y and Z. Look at our facilities, our record and what we're building here. Why not be a part of that?"

I live in Athens. Knoxville and Athens, save for having large SEC schools, aren't terribly alike in that they offer different pluses and minuses that could impact recruits' decisions depending on what they're looking for in a town. The two cities just have a different feel to them. You're kidding yourself if you think Athens, GA is has the definitive edge over Knoxville (and I'd say the same to anyone under the impression that Knoxville is head and shoulders better than Athens). They're different, and the towns themselves don't have nearly the effect that recruiters and facilities have (think...why would anyone want to be stuck in the humid hell of Gainesville, yet somehow the Lizards could reel in blue chip recruits on part with anyone).

We've got that witchy type woman on top of Monteagle in Grundy County that can read recruit's fortunes going for us. I mean if she can predict weather looking at woolly worms the sky is the limit, no?

We need players? I thought cbj was the finest recruiter of all time, in fact he [jones] is thinking of giving seminars for other coaches from around the country, topic: "How I did it"!! (of course for $$$$$$, as he has become familiar with getting paid):eek:lol:
