Butch Jones 100% committed to UT.

Michigan is a quicker turn around than TN. The smart decision would be Michigan if the opportunity really comes available.

IDK about that. Sure it's easier to win in the big ten but we're about to have back to back highly rated recruiting classes. Those classes have Butch's players picked for his system. Butch has laid a good groundwork for the future, I doubt he walks away at this point.

I doubt even more that Michigan alums go along with someone from the Rich Rod coaching tree either. I'm sure Jones would be somewhere on the list but it would be towards the bottom.

Pathetic. We can only hope you have not yet tricked some trusting lady into marrying you.

I forget how stupid so many of you are. The person that is least likely to go anywhere is the person with no where else to go. So climb off your high horse.

Or the person who lives up to their word. The definition of discipline is doing the right thing when no one is watching.

Easy to justify low morals and bad character.

Per Butch Jones on Vol calls he is 100% committed to UT and will be here for a long time. His family loves it here and he is not going anywhere. Hopefully this ends all the talk.

WONDERFUL NEWS!!!! I believe Butch will be know as one of UT's best coaches ever! He and his staff has already done so much for us and I believe they are just getting started!!! God Bless and GO VOL's!!!!:hi::eek:k:

I bet he was misquoted. Probably more like "I made the mistake of reading through the football forum on Volnation and thought maybe I should be committed for taking the job in the first place. Then I read some more and decided that maybe a lot of other people need to be committed!"

Maybe it will end the talk but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves with wishful thinking.

Column: Butch Jones commitment to Cincy was pretense

ouch...

"Dear Tennessee fans: When your new coach starts spouting the corny slogans and the silly mantras, you have one move to make, and that's for your coats. As a parting gift, after it exacts its $1.4 in buyout money, per Jones' redone contract, UC should offer Butch a platinum-plated shovel, to use in Knoxville whenever he speaks."

"Being a fan requires believing in something. Or in this case, someone. Cynical fans aren't happy fans. They're the ones who go to the games to boo and to release aggression they can't release in polite society. They don't feel better for having been there. Without that good feeling, what's the point in being a fan at all?"

Believing in something does not mean fans should bury heads in sand and ignore documented facts. There are many positives about Butch (many more than negative) but there is nothing wrong pointing out few not so nice facts about him. If fans took that approach more often (i.e. when Kiffin was here) it would lessen shock/anger/hate etc if/when the chosen ones let us down.

When history looks back on Urban Meyer and his accomplishments, which ones will be acknowledged to a higher degree? His extreme success, and two BCS championships, in Florida or his wins and nothing more in Ohio state?

Didn't say it was my thought process, suggested it was Meyers.

Hey, he knows he lives in the fickle world of collegiate football. IF, in the future, a better offer comes along he will be gone as surely as Vol fans will call for his job at some point if he doesn't leave first. Put yourself in his shoes, a coach has to constantly evaluate his position.

In my opinion the real danger for UT is the fragile state of the program early in the often beleaguered "process."
If we lose recruiting momentum now you can hang it up.

Thought this guy ODd on horse tranquilizers after Ochocinco got cut by the Dolphins.

Expecting a coach to be loyal to us, when there may be something he wants more,
Is like expecting us to be loyal to him if he doesn't win. It's a job.

If Butch's claims of disinterest calmed your fears, what did you really expect him to say? He's not going to admit that he's sniffing around. He may not leave, but don't kid yourself into believing it can't possibly happen.

The measure of who we are is what we do with what we have."
Vince Lombardi

CBJ, throughout his coaching career, has proven he is an effective recruiter; however, no matter how much a coach recruits talent; the development of skill is a different coaching responsibility. For CBJ to have been an offensive specialist as he rose in coaching ranks, it's past time to strategize with what he has to produce wins. Good PR is a wonderful feeling; don't we all feel good when the VOLS prevail! Upcoming wins should be put away in the first column or all the great recruiting claims look good.....on paper.
