Butch Jones 100% committed to UT.

Will UT have to bump his salary up by a million as inducement??

No. No one else is looking to pay him 3 million a year, which is what we are already paying him. UT may need to bump up some of our assistants who are doing well on the recruiting trail to avoid losing them, but Butch Jones is already paid as well as anyone is likely to pay him until he gets some positive results.

Look what Franklin did with Vandy recruits; it's not in a coach's approach to stay true to the end. Cincinnati is dealing, two years later, with the ends of CBJ's 3rd year there. He pursued Colorado and Pursue while biding time to wait for any Tennessee interest. ALL coaches know how to handle the recruiting pipeline if they have any possibility of entertaining another offer.
He's positioning for more money now; wish he could develop the skills of position players instead.

You're wrong. Franklin and Kiffen did to recruits and the schools they left what NO self respecting, halfway honorable person should ever do. They are the worst examples of a true coach ever. When Butch left Cincy, sure, they lost a few recruits, but not because Butch tried to steal them or tell them not to go there. How many did he try to bring to TN? How many ended up coming here? None. He came here, started at ground zero, and put together a decent class. I'm glad we have a coach with integrity.

Thank God he did not try to bring any of those recruits to TN (because they would have gladly accepted which would have set this program back 10 more years). It was bad enough Butch brought in his whole best in America Bearcat staff which unfortunately included Bajakian.

google the Cincinnati Enquirer's leading sports columnist about CBJ's leaving; he spent his "recruiting time" after 3rd season flying around the country chasing jobs. It's not about what recruits he tried to influence; it's about the commitment of time to his current job, with others on the horizon that's always been his challenge....like most coaches
