Story Time with ole CopperHead .....
My ex-wife and I had purchased a home in a nice neighborhood when I was in my early 30's. I was working on overseas executive protection details so traveling quite a bit. Ending one trip, I came back a night earlier than planned and found her in bed with a co-worker of hers. Yep, my house, my bed, breathing my ac, snuggling up with my pillow, buck-nekkie in my bed. The fact that I had met him before, gave cause to put him through a sliding glass door then toss them both out.
A few weekends later, I am back home and alone. I have a tendency to self-destruct when not grounded or supervised so my buddies are all calling checking on me (most of them some sort of Law enforcement). It is early evening and I am drinking heavily… My friends all start stopping by throughout the evening/night each one of them bringing over hard liquor or beer. The last thing I remember is standing in the driveway chugging a 5th of Jose gold sometime after 1am.
Fast-forward to the next morning…. I wake up outside, sun beating down on me, feel like crap, still have a fattie dip of snuff in my mouth, not knowing where I am. When I finally focused my squinting eyes, I see a swing-set and realize I am in someone's backyard with a privacy fence. Not only am I in someone else's back yard, I am in their blue plastic kiddie pool (the one with the built in plastic slide). I was missing my shirt and boots sitting in the water back propped up on the slide. I slowly start looking around to get my bearings and turn toward the house. It is at this point I see the entire family that lived there sitting at their table staring at me through the back French doors not 30ft away. Father, mother and two small kids. All eating breakfast and looking at me…..
I realize it was my new next door neighbors. I sat there another couple of minutes then slowly got up, stumbled out of the pool, picked up my boots and started to leave. When I started going the wrong direction to find my way out, the father waved and pointed the other direction. I weakly waved back and stumbled home.
I saw him out in the yard a few days later and called him over. I started to apologize not knowing where to start. We are standing there awkwardly looking at each other and both started cracking up laughing. He told me he had come out and made sure I was breathing, but there was no way he was going to wake me up. He made reference to seeing me frequently walking in and out with bugout bag and long weapons, so along with all the law enforcement vehicles coming and going, he figured he would just let my big country a$$ sleep.
