Zimmerman Trial

All Trayvon Martin had to do with the Neighborhood Watch was walk up and say, "Hello; how are you? You the Neighborhood Watch or do you have problems with your truck? I'm Trayvon Martin, staying here a few weeks with my Dad." He might have also said something like, "Thanks for watching out for everybody and keeping us safe."

How hard was that? It's how civilized people talk and act.

.....sure thing, Beaver.

Posted this in the wrong "Zimmerman" thread.

Serious question based on the following scenario (take a moment and truly think about the situation)...

  1. If GZ would have been found guilty, and
  2. everything else remain completely unchanged, except
  3. the roles were reversed and GZ was black and TM was "white hispanic"

... would many of the same people protesting injustice today also be protesting injustice given the above scenario?

Honestly, I would feel much more empathetic (given the scenario reversal) for those who might be protesting, as I believe the correct verdict was reached... regardless of race.

However, assuming many of the same people would protest in either situation (especially the likes of Sharpton and the NAACP) it would seem to highlight a single, primary factor in the decision to protest.

Zimmerman is innocent, but I don't expect martin to go over and talk to the guy if he was following him. What I do expect is call cops, and or get home, or keep distance between himself and zimmerman to have a conversation. He shouldn't of ambushed and sucker punched zimmerman.

lets remember Martin did nothing wrong, until he attacked Zimmerman.

In case you have never known civilized people in your life, you will just have to take my word for it that civilization does exist, and that is how civilized people conduct themselves, especially when they are visitors in a gated community. Or he could have just minded his own business and walked home. Instead, he behaved like a violent criminal and got himself shot to death.

Trayvon Martin's mother no doubt tried to teach him how to act, but she had to throw him out of her house because he was so defiant. Nobody forced Martin to act like a criminal. That was his choice, and it got him killed. Is that the lesson you want people to learn from this tragedy...act like a criminal and get yourself or somebody else killed?

That is just not quite true. Martin was wandering around in the rain looking into people's homes. That is suspicious behavior. When Martin saw Zimmerman sitting in his truck, he stared at him and then walked over to the truck with his hand in his waistband. That is aggressive, threatening behavior. He had been there long enough to know about the Neighborhood Watch, from other people he talked to and from the bright sign in front of the gate.

nothing against the law about being suspicious, or we would all be in jail. I followed the case, I know the facts.

Civilized people being stared at by some wannabe cop tend to be defensive.

I was wondering what would be going on right now if TM had actually killed GZ, and he was on trial. Who would be calling it self defense, who would be calling for murder charges.

If TM killed GZ and all we had to go on was TM's *complete lack of damage, he would get the electric chair.

*It is pretty clear that GZ cant fight.

Unfortunately TM turned out to not be civilized. Civilized people would've called the cops or been quick to get home if they thought they were in danger instead of being on the phone with an illiterate big girl & racially profiling the neighborhood watch guy. Up until he got shot what happened was what he wanted to happen.

Right, but you did say that he had done nothing wrong until he attacked Zimmerman. That is not the same thing as not doing anything illegal.

I do long walks for exercise after injuring my knee. Sometimes I go onto side streets where people do not know me. Yes, I do look at the houses, which are not cookie cutter townhouses like the buildings where Martin was walking. I do not get off the walk and wander around in the yards and look into windows. I just keep walking straight, and I always carry identification. I'm an older White man, but I know very well that people are wary of strangers and watching me. I do not walk over to them like I'm carrying a weapon, as Martin did when Zimmerman was in his truck. If anyone ever does approach me, I'll just tell them my name and address so that they will know we are neighbors, and I will be friendly about it. What is so hard about that?

Damn pick one. Is he a civilized person or an irrational minor? He's old enough to do drugs & beat the hell put of people but not old enough to know better? Minors a lot younger are being tried as adults for crimes everyday. Also there are a lot more civil young people that could've handled the situation much much better.

lol ....take a look at our football forum and ask me again. People tend to walk the hell out of that line on a daily basis.

and I agree. TM handled the situation pretty badly.

I'm not defending TM. I thought GZ was a perfect fit for manslaughter. A murder charge on the evidence available was ridiculous.

I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm on Zimmermans side, the only thing I had a problem with. Was your first post. you said Martin should of went over, and talked to him. because that is what civilized people do. If you feel like your being followed then hell no you don't. now go back to my first post where I quoted you.

Like i said martin didn't really do anything wrong, until he attacked Zimmerman.

I have a nice truck, people look in my truck all the time

I'm a contractor that use to flip houses, I looked in alot of windows. even at night.

Any charge was ridiculous.

This is a great lesson for youth. Lose the attitude.

Why manslaughter? To appease racist blacks? I thought self defense was justifiable. Some people may not agree to the extent of it but they weren't having their heads pounded in the concrete either.
