Thanks. He had originally thought 2nd degree and then changed to manslaughter. Per usual prosecutors overcharged.

Ok. So GZ was allowed to kill someone that was not committing a criminal act? I'd say being assaulted is a criminal act.

I do find it a little odd those in the camp of it shouldn't have gone to trial. For a group that rarely trusts cops or government y'all are pretty trusting of the police on this one.

Not trusting at all. More that if 2 people want to get in a scuffle, then both need to be prepared to accept the consequences.

I don't doubt GZ felt his life was in danger and thus have no problem with what he did. Cops don't factor in for me.

The DA didn't want to press charges either, and that is their job...not the job of a court. The DA decides who to charge and what to charge them with.

Just because they also thought it should have gone to trial doesn't mean they were wrong. Sure there motives were horrible but a trial was necessary.
