Zimmerman Trial

carry anyway...I would rather lose my job while alive then have my job and be dead...just sayin

Amen. When I was in college, I was delivering food. They wouldn't let you carry on most delivery jobs (which is STUPID because it's one of the top three most dangerous jobs in the country, statistically) and we'd be going to poor neighborhoods all the time. I had a pistol with me on every single delivery east of the store.

I just don't get the no guns policy we have. We are not supposed to even have them in our personal vehicle if we park on property. I don't see what the point is. If someone was gonna go shooting, they gonna bring it anyway. All the rule does is make us defenseless. People are robbed a lot and one case where two employees were takin into an abandoned house and made lay on the ground and they held a gun to thier head. I guess as long as the company doesn't get on the news by an employee shooting someone that was robbing them. Funny they preach safety and say its thier number one priority, but would rather us die than something like this gz thing happen.

Yeah. The infamous "no gun" rule where only the criminals are armed.

Like I said get you something like a .380 that's easily concealed and carry anyway.

I no longer work on the ambulance. I work in a hospital now so I haven't carried at work in over a year but its scary. Our security guards are worthless and unarmed. If a disgruntled family member showed up with a gun it would be a minimum of 7-10 minutes before someone showed up to protect us (and that's probably generous).

The news media just hate reporting this story now. You can feel it in their broadcasts.

They wanted this story to push race relations and gun rights and it has blown up in their faces

I have a ruger lcp with a laser.. Bad day for someone thinking I'm not armed.

after reading twitter this morning I'm convinced most people have no clue how the justice system works in this country. It's like they watched a couple of episodes of Night Court and became experts

It took you up to this trial to figure that out?

Basically, the way I see this trial is you're either defending a Darwin award candidate who decided it was alright to loiter around a gated neighborhood while apparently high, or you're defending an overzealous community watchman who wanted to play cop.

not really but this is the first time I've read that much from the general public about a trial. The number of "GZ should be forced to testify or he's guilty" and similar comments just confuse me. It's no wonder our rights are being taken away when very few seem to even know what they are in the first place

Here's an interesting article out of the New York Times. It shows the disconnect between how the rights of one criminal defendant weigh against a media driven push for racial tension. It's this simple - we have a court system there to protect against this very mindset.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/08/us/zimmerman-case-has-race-as-a-backdrop-but-you-wont-hear-it-in-court.html?pagewanted=all

Here's a good analysis of the reason that the Zimmerman trial is going the way it is going:

Althouse: The Zimmerman trial needs to be more about race! Quick, call the sociologist!

I know this might not be pc on this forum either - but the Christian Newsome matter here in Knoxville. People *****ing about how the defendants get all the breaks etc. etc.. etc... But that's how the system works. That's how our anglo-saxon system of justice has worked here and in England for hundreds of years. It ain't perfect, but it's better than lynching in my opinion. It separates our society from the savages.

The burden of proof should lie with the accuser.

from twitter

The only way the #Jury delivers a noy guilty verdict is if they are totally deaf, dumb, blind and stupid.

I would argue that the defendants in the Christian Newsome trial should be lynched. Justice will never be served for what they did, and it would do more to serve as a deterrent to potential killers.

Did we have a long list of white people get online and threaten to kill black people. If the trial didn't turn out the way they wanted it to

nope they didn't imagine that

Funny story from a couple years back...

A few buddies and myself were walking down the street in this bar-heavy area of town when we saw a couple of gay guys beating the living hell out of this frat-boy twenty something. We broke it up, and it had apparently started over a Bad Brains shirt with an upside down cross on it, moved into a Trayvon Martin/GZ 'debate,' which concluded with the frat daddy being followed out of the bar, and jumped by these two lively queens.

I just remember all of them crying and screaming about TM and GZ while we were breaking it up. What a weird night.

So you were witness to a hate crime. :)

How true that is...

That comment could reasonably end a lot of the threads on this board.

Dr. Maio ripping the heart of the State's case right now - temple of doom style. He said you could walk/talk for up to 10-15 seconds without your heart, I wonder how long Bernie, the state prosecutor, will be able to stand and cross examine this witness. The State needs to just throw in the towel.

Haven't been following, but can you give a breakdown of what's going on?

Haha, well he just used science to prove that Trayvon was on top of Zimmerman due to the distance the clothing hung off of Trayvon. He also stated that the gun was between 2 to 4 inches away from Trayvon when shot. Then he just embarrassed the State's witnesses by testifying that Zimmerman's injuries were serious.
