Zimmerman Trial

After getting over the shock of her very strange demeanor, I actually thought that Jeantel made a good witness at times. She appeared coached to say a few things by the defense and of course she could not even read the letter she signed, which was written by somebody else, but I thought that she tried to be accurate with the rest. Unfortunately, her speech was difficult to understand and her record of lying when she wanted to lie limited the value of her testimony.

I hate to admit it, but I understood her cracka comment right out of the gate. In fact, I understood everything she said with the exception of the times she mumbled. Wonder where the witnesses "grew up?"

She made a good witness alright ...for the defense . Lol...

Actually, Jeantel did make a good witness for the defense. She placed Travon Martin far from the scene of the shooting, outside of the residence where he was staying. That obviously means that he backtracked past three buildings to confront Zimmerman. The fight started in the same area where Zimmerman was located when the dispatcher told him they did not need him to follow Martin. So according to Jeantel's testimony, it was Martin who stalked and confronted Zimmerman.

After learning more of the details and watching that Zimmerman re-enactment, I think Trayvon was looking to burglarize a place that night. He wasn't trying to get out of the rain. This guy was a straight-up thug.

He was gonna stick them up with some skittles. Please...

Anyone listening? Tweets I'm reading where people are testifying that TM was almost home but he circled back to confront GZ?

Are you suggesting that Martin could not commit a crime because he had a bag of candy in his pocket? Do you think that someone else inflicted all of the injuries on Zimmerman's head?

The State has a detective on the stand who did the "bad cop" interview with Zimmerman. He's easily their most effective witness so far, in that his probing is essentially what the State would be asking if Zimmerman were to take the stand.

That said, Zimmerman's responses to the cop's indirect accusations were pretty consistent.

Lawsuit. Zimmerman is going to get rich all because of the sensationalism of the media that hates him so much. Ironic.

So Zimmerman haters are excited that they can commit identity fraud against him? Paints an even better picture..... Also, his MSNBC lawsuit money should supplement this nicely.

I don't care what you hear in the news, the prosecution is getting killed. If this trial was a boxing match, the towel would have been thrown in awhile ago. Zimmerman's attorneys are doing really well on cross-examination.

this is why there is more news about riot threats.

The trial is not over, but so far the prosecution case is worse than weak. I am beginning to doubt that the defense will need to call Zimmerman to the stand.

Is it just me or does it seem like the prosecution is trying to lose this case? Their witness list is horrid right now and unless they are saving the best for last is not going to get better.

Any of our resident lawyers on here want to chime in and explain the motives here? Especially after today.

They were never going to put him on the stand. I'm now questioning whether the Defense will call any witnesses at all.

I'm about convinced that the prosecutors have been forced by their superiors to try this case. So, they just put on the witnesses and let the chips fall where they may. I just cannot fathom these guys actually going into this case with the idea that they would prevail. "Star" witness with serious credibility issues can't even read her "own" letter? The guy today - Good - testifying that Travon was on top? Why the living hell would you put that guy on the stand unless you were forced. The only thing that makes sense is that they don't want to be there and are compelled to go forward anyway.

Why would they? Z already testified via the tape they showed today with no prosecution cross examination! Brilliant.

They aren't trying to throw the case. For one, if they were throwing it, they wouldn't have slow walked discovery. Instead, they waited until a few weeks before trial to dump like 4,000 documents on the Defense. Second, just watch their reactions to objections - Bernie goes wild sometimes. Heck, today he threw his pen in frustration. The reason the trial has gone so bad is because they don't have any evidence to work with. So, in other words, it looks like they are throwing it because they just don't have much of a case. Also, these witnesses are coming up at some point. For example, everyone complained about bringing up the eye witness. Well, imagine if the state didn't bring the only eye witness to the case - how would that have looked?
