Neighbor testifies Trayvon Martin was straddling Zimmerman moments before fatal gunshot

(CBS) A former neighbor of George Zimmerman testified he saw two men in a "tussle" outside his home the night of Feb. 26, 2012, and said he now believes the person on top in the altercation - which would moments later turn fatal - was Trayvon Martin.

In key testimony, he also said he believes George Zimmerman was the person yelling for help.

Im prepped and ready ...Im about 20 miles from sanford .Hopefully they'll hit LG first as winter springs is closer than where i reside.

I'm sure LG will just negotiate with them, let them know they are on the same side, etc etc.

O Snap, Zimmerman trained in MMA. He didn't tap out! Not withdraw from fight. Ignore screaming for help.

Gonna give the prosecution props here.

The went over and over the MMA-style "ground-and-pound" that the neighbor witnessed. Now they have a physician's assistant testifying that Zimmerman did some MMA training a couple of years back. Despite the fact that the neighor made it clear that Martin was the one on top of Zimmerman, the State is going to try and paint the picture that it had to have been Zimmerman doing the striking, since he had the requisite training.

It's not going to work, but they are leaving no stone unturned.

I assure you this will fail.

Once State rests, Defense likely may decide now to admit evidence about Trayvon's reputation in the community for using drugs and violence. The defense had said they wanted to avoid going there, but I think Bernie just forced their hand because the State is desperate and this is basically a hail marry.

Note - Zimmerman could have had Zero injuries and still be justified in using self-defense. You don't have to suffer a sort of minimal amount of damages before the law allows you to defend yourself.

I may be wrong, but I believe Martin's past deeds have been ruled inadmissable.

But if I were the Defense, even if I could present character evidence against Martin, I wouldn't. I would go into as much detail about Zimmerman's injuries as I could, and then I would rest.

Every Puerto Rican in Central Florida has done some "MMA" or featherweight boxing training. Its either be good at that or sell used tires on Orange Blossom Trail.
