Ziegler > Gillespie

Ziegler played with heart and fire.

A true leader and an ambassador for Tennessee basketball.

Gillespie looks like he’s just out there playing for a paycheck.

His effort in the final minutes was very poor.
ZZ was a spark in all phases of the game. His control of the offense was only exceeded by his excellency on defense. He learned things on the New York streets that can not be taught.

I like G but I love Z.

I think JG is really good. Wish we had him for 4 years too. But that’s a really hard act to follow. I’m 100% more disappointed in our bigs so far this season. I think we can go to FF with JG/Boswell backcourt.

ZZ was the defensive floor general. JG has never been the floor general at any point of his career. Last year was Derrick Queen’s team at Maryland. JG was just a compliment starter.

I believe if Barnes had him all four years, he would be an NBA lock.

I think Gillespie would look a lot different if we had a legit two guard. Or, if we had a PG and could move him to the two.

If Gillespie had an Lanier or a Knecht? Mercy. Or, if he has a ZZ and could play off ball.
Gillespie isn't a 2 guard. He isn't a pure shooter, and much of his offense depends on the dribble-drive. Not sure why it gets repeated so often that he needs to be a shooting guard. He was the point guard at Belmont, and at Maryland. His game isn't the same as Chris Lofton.
