I will not criticize the person but his team can’t tackle, poor clock management, and way too many injuries to be a successful program.
If not for a weak out of conference schedule every year we would be a .500 program. Remember we had OT games with Mississippi State and Arkansas. That is your level of competitiveness.

He has gotten schooled a few times by the better coaches but if he learns from them he will get better and win more. DW is not firing him so all these posts about different coaches is just venting threads.
Getting in the middle of this coach firing craziness right now it would be foolish to compete with all these schools for the few good coaches out there when Heuple can do better.

I do think Heupel will continue to improve as he continues to improve the recruitment of players, it’s all about the Jimmys and the Jos mostly in college ball. He still has his hands tied by Pruitt violations / NCAA recruitment sanctions I think for another 1-2 years. He does need to make some kind of adjustment or something about defense. I’m not sure what the answer is. He gets the big bucks to make that call.
I don’t think getting a new DC would help since TB was being mentioned for awards last yr and had the team leading national stats last year. This year offense has been surprisingly good with new QB situation. I think we’ll end up being about where most hoped for given the QB situation. We were lucky to get JA and he be so good for UT.
I’d say jury will remain undecided for at least 3 more years . UT needs stability still. We have been too used to real goofball coaches for so long and bad UT football that when success occurs, we expect it every year. Unfortunately there are only a few recent really great coaches , Bear Bryant and Saban, both from our nemesis which makes it even worse.

I would predict any coach to win a championship... Heupel is good BUT, if you traded our roster for Ohio State's roster, Josh and his staff would be competing for a championship. Infact, P4 coaches that have been fired would be competing with that roster.
I've watched Ohio St and would not predict they win it, because in any one game strange things can happen, but as loaded as they are easy to see them 80% winning the National again. They look better than last year.. QB is definitely better..
