You think hiring a proven HC doesn't matter?

Why is Pruitt even being compared to Mullen?

Both walked into completely different situations under different circumstances.

Sounds like upset people who are looking to gloat that wanted Mullen in the first place.

One walked into a place on fire with angry fans who struggled for several years recruiting, who had replaced their coach multiple times in a short period of time and only won 4 games last season. The other coach was Pruitt.

You're the one claiming recruiting ratings equal available talent. If you watch it's pretty freaking clear where UT stands on the talent scale

You're one of those people eh? You think the recruiting services only missed on the guys who came to Tennessee? No, the prior and current coaching staff have let these players down in their career to date. Will it get better with the current staff? No clue. That's the issue with hiring someone with 0 track record. You have no clue what you're going to get. The entire point of this thread is that a proven head coach is vastly superior to the path we chose and the one that we are stuck on for several years now.

Only reason we did not beat UF 4 straight years was Butch Jones. UF just beat LSU.
They are 5 -1 and 3 -1 in the SEC. I guess UF was loaded to begin this year?
Looks like they do not have to wait 4 years to turn it around.
I am not throwing JP under the bus. This is aimed at the UT decision makers.
You get what you pay for and UT is just not willing to do that.
Dabo Swinney, Jimbo Fisher, Kirby Smart, Scott Frost, James Franklin and many others say howdy

Even in a bye week people find ways to be miserable.

Losing by 26 points to an arch rival and then watching said arch rival knock off a top 5 team with a first year head coach will have that effect on fans.

I guess we can do cartwheels in the mean time knowing we have the 5th best recruiting class in the SEC currently given Pruitt will only be able to coach when he gets his "own" players.

I'm still not sold on Orgeron .... I think they've overachieved until today. Conversely, FLA has steadily improved and caught LSU today, albeit at home. FL defense look like their old selves, good DL and smart DB play. Offense is lacking but it's Mullin's year one and you know that'll improve. FL gotta be feeling good about their offseason move. I would be to date.

That said I agree with an earlier post, can Mullin be a CFP contender? That I'm not sure of. He may have a ceiling we haven't seen yet.

The current coaching staff doesn't appear to be doing much to make them better either. Especially not compared to the quantum leap that the Florida coach has made with their "subpar" talent.
It depends on where the subpar talent is..... TN has capable skill position players, but outside of Smith the Oline is Exlax and the Dline is very pedestrian.

Most of us still don’t want that dork you hired. Ignore the trolls.

So, those that had respect for DM's coaching and thought he would be a good hire are trolls? I was one of those people. No one is throwing Pruitt under the bus.

And btw, I don't care if my coach is a dork, a pirate, a redneck, a yankee, or anything else. I care about winning. You?
