LSU and Florida can now both lay claim to being THE Ohio State University.

btw, I -- for one -- refuse to refer to Ohio State with a definite article.

I think...as a UT fan...it begs the question...

What would UT do in the Big 10?

I think it would be a perennial 1-2 finish for us in that conference at which point we would either be in the NC or we'd go to the Rose Bowl....

I think this year more than any year in recent memory shows just how tough our conference is and how winning the East is something to be very proud of...

Obviously...it's nothing to hang your hat on but it is a worthy accomplishment

Blamie,
Interesting you bring up the how we would do in the Big 10 thing. I was having that conversation with my Dad the other day. And we came up with the same conclusion as you with the occasional #3 year when we would lose to both Michigan and Ohio State b/c hey our team just does stuff like that sometimes with rivals.
But it's really tough to tell. The argument could be made that Wisconsin had Ohio St beat late into the 4th and beat Michigan up pretty good (I think) and although our O in true 2007 TN fashion stalled out of nowhere in the 2nd half of the bowl game, I wasn't ever really worried about Wisconsin while watching the game. It was pretty clear to me that we were the superior team.

Mike Greenberg on Mike and Mike in the Morning, called OSU the best football program in the country. He was being serious. Idiots.

Hahaha- this whole article is one big slap in the face for OSU and the Big Ten.

I love it. :dance2:

the big-10 has a very good record against the SEC over the years.

Yeah, if you consider the records of all current teams in the Big 10 and SEC( before Penn State, Arkansas, etc., joined their respective leagues), the Big 10 leads 94-87-7. But if you just consider the leagues themselves, the SEC leads 63-45-2. You can spin it several ways, but it doesn't matter. We have 5 coaches with National Championships and are undefeated in those games against the Big 10.

" And he should know not to bring that weak Big Ten stuff back to the BCS National Championship Game again next year."

Nice column. They need to remember that next year when some Big Ten team is in this position, and not hand them a spot in the national championship unless they earn it by beating some real competition.

It shouldn't have taken this game to prove the SEC is better. Just watch a team like Kentucky. Kentucky is a very good team, got to the top 10 at one point this season, and couldn't even finish .500 in SEC play. The SEC was 6-2 in bowls going into last night, and one of the losses was by an Arkansas team in turmoil against a much stronger opponent.
