This site is really bad for the health of UT football.

before Butch -
7-5, 6-7,5-7, 5-7
after Butch
5-7, 7-6 , 9-4, 9-4.
Butch has improved the health of UT football.

We are not stuck in MEDIOCRITY, BUTCH just got us back to it.

If we accept 2 or 3 more seasons of no more 8 or 9 wins, that IS accepting mediocre.

Please try to be positive and hope for a better year.

This OC hire could be a home run or possibly the DC will create his previous magic for UT next year .

Of course we have had whinny fans forever - didn't coach majors complain about 'the legion of miserable' .

Butch has taken this program from 5 wins a year to 3 stright bowl games
beat uga twice uf this year and is bringing in some pretty good talent. This program was a dumpster fire when dooley left give the man some time and it can only get better.

What bothers me is I REALLY DONT THINK A LOT OF THESE PEOPLE UNDERSTAND. I thought at first they were frustrated, maybe a little anger but I've come to realize they real have no clue about what's going on. They really don't. And the sad part about that is THEY NEVER WILL!!!!!

Some people think you can turn a 5 and 7 team with walk on o linemen into a national chamionship team in 1 year this isnt xbox.

Agreed. And the effect the negativity has our recruiting has recently been displayed in the media. Just as a commit can influence a kid to come to Rocky Top, others even non commits can definitley discourage them to not come stating "There is no way I'm going there", etc. Add to fact, the choice if a kid would come for an offical visit could be effected as well. Tough to get them if you can't get them on campus. Quit trying to be cute and attention seeking like a spoiled teenager with the replies to logical post like this. That's what part of the problem is. The original post made some well thought out good points. How bout an actual conversation to that regard with some intelligence versus little cute preschool replies. You guys are making his point for him....that's the true laughable part, not your simple minded replies.

The problem is no improvement in the record this year. But to the negative folks point, I feel they are mad at the why. And rightly so.

But everyone gets knocked down. I want to see how they get up.

IDK if they ever will because anything is possible, but most VN posters don't know enough to coach a peewee football team, let alone an SEC Powerhouse! But yet they feel the need to critique CBJ's every move. And before people start asking me to break down plays or anything like that, I am an avid Vol fan and my football IQ is average/good. But, not enough to critique Butch Jones on his job and neither does most, if not any, posters on VN!

No need to critique or analyze a coach that can't beat Vandy consistsntly. Think about it, it's Vandy. What's not already none?

Granted it is Vandy, but they are an SEC football squad and I have seen better teams lose to worse competition several times a year! Should we lose to Vandy? No! Do upsets happen any given Saturday? YES!!! I also don't personally blame the USCjr loss completely on CBJ. I think hurd had a lot to do with the mindset of our whole team that game. I don't think our players minds were in the game against them.

He is trying to even out some of the ridiculousness on here. Like he said probably 80% of these posts are negative. Recruits and their parents research before they come here and this site pops up pretty easily. I don't want them to believe this loud obnoxious minority on VN and Twitter are the majority. Hopefully they understand the majority of the fans want the team and Butch to succeed and the team has gotten better and we do want championships.

A cancer patient fell and broke her arm. Dr Jones set her arm and put it in a cast. Dr Jones "improved" the health of the cancer patient.

Hard to say. There are guys worth giving a call. James Franklin is one. I personally think Larry Fedora would be a really good fit at UT. Mark Stoops might be a pretty good coach with UT's resources. Not sure if he's ready now or not but someone will come calling on Scott Satterfield soon.

But I'll say it again, any time you have to fire someone for failure to meet expectations you may hire someone else who doesn't meet them either. If you want a winner though you have to keep hiring (and firing when necessary) until you find someone who can get the job done. You can never lower the standard because a coach fails to meet it.
