Outside of Playoffs would be the best case for me! Just 20 minutes from house.. Newly renovated by the way folks.. Very nice now

For a few min I thought you were talking about YOUR house. Thought it was awful nice of you to invite all of us down to stay for the game if it is there...

I want to know how A&M and Auburn are both getting in the playoff.

Citrus is pretty good for UT.

A lot has changed in 20 years.

No, A&M making the playoffs this year is like saying an independant will win the prez election.

Other Guy, I think Orb'sSon was talking about the Citrus Bowl being a desirable destination for Vols fans today as the "thing that has changed a lot in 20 years" (you know, versus when Spurrier talked smack about the program with that zinger)...not A&M's chances of getting into the playoffs. Just looking at the context.

I would be very happy to play Penn State. We owe Franklin and we have lost to penn State the last three times we played them in bowls. Bring it on we will smash their faces.

I'd like to get a little revenge on both. However, it's a bad combination for us. Franklin typically beats us and PennState always beats us.

Franklin feasted on the worst UT teams in my 53 year life ( no blame on Butch for Dooley's mess).
Also Papa Joe is gone and we have out recruited them.
JMHO........GBO!!!!!!! Going to see us in Nashville yea!!!!!

Agree with all that. Franklin was incredibly fortunate to arrive in Nashville when he did. Perfect storm and smoke n mirrors best describe his tenure there.

I thought we were lifetime 2-2 against Penn State, KB! We could put them permanently in the "we have a winning record 'gainst those turkeys" column with another bowl win.... :)

The '71 game (31-11 UT) is on youtube. You should take a look at it sometime. Beat them again the next year too.

Actually, 2-3....but they've won the last 3 so it feels like "always". I stand corrected JP...did what so many do on here which is give an emotional response with doing any homework. My bad.

Winsipedia - Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Tennessee Volunteers football series history

Anywho, would love to even the series while beating the hell out of old Snakehead.

Oh, it's ok, no worries, I understand. Still, an opportunity to even the record up, 3-3, would be nice. :)

(and thanks, both KB and Boca, for providing the correct record...idk why my source says 2-2...it does have an asterick, I shoulda probably gone to see what that was for...hehe).

Agree. New era on the Hill and plenty of scores to settle. The Penn State one isn't a priority, but it'll be a sweet one to check off.

Wait a second. Didn't FOX Sports predict yesterday that the SEC MISSES the playoff ENTIRELY?

:ermm:

Not out of the question by a long shot. With the way the west is especially. You could easily have no SEC team with less than two losses and four or more power 5s undefeated or with one loss.

Apologies for length:

Been in Orlando since 1991 and I don't get to see the Vols play live often, so I was thrilled to see Tennessee down here during the 90's, and 2002. A large group of Vols and Gators get together every year now to watch the games. Unfortunately, I don't make the trip to Gainseville the way I used to.

Saw them play Florida several times in the swamp during the formative years of of our hatred for each other. And, at the Citrus Bowl for what turned out to be a pretty sweet run of games.

We were a damn good team and those bowl games were a lot of fun to watch despite the currently Overrated Ball-Cock's attempts at "spelling" humor.

Well.... okay.... this one wasn't much fun to watch. But, wouldn't it be sweet if the article writer's prediction is on target and we get a chance to correct that mistake?

I got to see Peyton twice that year, including this game and the game in Gainesville that we won't dwell on here. Also got to see Leonard Little! and Jay Graham! As well as some fumbler for "The" Ohio State, last name George.

Last time to see Peyton live... solid, fun game but I don't remember a great deal about it. I think a youtube Citrus Bowl binge is in store for the weekend.

EDIT: A little research to kick start the memories turned up Graham, Price, Kent and one of Manning's better College performances with 4 touchdowns. Definitely pulling up this online this weekend.

Made possible when the Vol's last, best shot at a national title run was mauled by the Tigers in the SEC championship. Still... absolutely loved watching the Wolverines get Orange crushed.

From a cherished gift standpoint, this game was tops for me. Friends of mine in the local media got my wife and I tix to the game. They trumped that gift with the one below that they received while on the job shooting the game. They gave it to me 7 months later as a Birthday present. Brought a tear of joy to my eye:

Alright let's see if I can get this correct, which non-gender pronoun would you like me to refer to you sir? Dang it already screwed that up, that will never work. You are right KBVol this a bad combination but I believe we could kick the sh@# out of pewstate this year.

Can't express how much I'd love it if we capped off say a 9-3 season with a beat down of PSU and ol' Jimmy Snakehead.

I'm just happy to see that (SEC No. 2) next to us

We'd likely be behind the two SEC playoff teams and possibly whatever 1-2 other SEC teams made the rest of the New Years 6 bowls.

So not quite finishing number 2 in the conference.
