You’re not a fan…

Hate to say it, but I question the judgement of parents who would bring a child to that game. Definitely not a family atmosphere.
I know what you mean, but it's a huge deal for some parents to take their kids to a game like that.. my son is 30 and he still remembers going to Neyland and seeing Tennessee beat the Pillsbury Throwboy and the Mildcats when he was a 4th grader.... 😎

Achieve something on your own, and trade in your football action figures for a life.

The viciousness with which some posters savage our players and coaches gives one cause to doubt whether those posters have ever accomplished anything of significance in their own lives; if they had, one would expect them to exhibit an awareness of how hard meaningful achievement is and how subject to the vicissitudes of chance.

Some of the things said about Velus Jones in the in-game thread, for instance, were absolutely sickening.

Honestly, I believe the flop fest pissed people off more than the refs. I know that was what did it for me. In my 50 years watching football, I've never seen anything like it. I know it will never happen, but Sankey needs to have a prayer meeting with Lane about that crap.

Also, I'm not defending what happened, but I can see why it happened.
I'm sure OM knew it was the only way they could keep from getting steamrolled and it will happen in the rest of our games this season. Why wouldn't it? No penalty for it.

God I hate these "real fan" posts. Too many opinions/standards about what being a "real fan" is to a person. Not defending what happened, but it's honestly exhausting. I wish the people that were outraged so much by this would at least be consistent regarding other fanbases doing bad things. I mean Bama fans are literally killing people over football this year and again in 2019...but trash I guess is more of a concern than the taking of someone's life over the game. You'd be hard pressed to find a fanbase that is true to being classy. I have no opinions or standards about being a fan, I don't care. You're either are a fan of something or you aren't.

And it's a shame that we've come to this. My parents brought me to games from the age of seven, and I encountered nothing worse than some cursing.
Same for me. In fact, I remember my dad getting onto some guys at the orange & white game for their language when sitting behind my sister and I (both under 10). They apologized and cleaned it up.

I hear you. I didn’t like the refereeing last night or fifteen years of terrible hires either. I just don’t plan to shoot up the post office or storm the capitol over it.
Should have left that last part out or taken it up in the politics forum. Surprised you were unable to work in BLM protests in your novella.

Considering it happened mostly later into the game, in which we were down 97% of the time, I don't think it was the fear of getting steamrolled as much as it was as being beaten in the final minutes of the game.

It was their plan from the beginning

The preaching and admonishing clock surely will run out today. That small percentage who actually participated in that mess either doesn’t clearly remember it or couldn’t care less about the opinions of what justifies a “classy”’or “real” fan. While sad and embarrassing, no message board post will change what happened nor change anyone’s opinion on whether it was deserved or not. If you have kids, use it as a teaching moment. That aside, quit lecturing the internet on your version of what is right or wrong. I’m speaking to myself here as well. As a fan base, we are getting enough hate from the outside without 72 threads on this site covering either how shameful our fans are or how much the officials and Kiffin had it coming.
We need to get on with discussing how screwed we are if Hooker is hurt and decide which backup might suck less. That’s most important now.
