Yet ANOTHER rumor for VN

I think all the conjecture is moot until we've moved on from Phil and put some money on the table.

I like Davis as well... probably better than Gruden.

How do you rank these guys, BPV?

I don't think of Davis as an old coach. He should have another 12-15 years from looking at him. I don't know how old he is. But I would think from his past moves he wants a little more than UNC job.

I could be wrong. But I think he would take it. I know he talked to Ark. last year. I think the UT job would be a little better than that.

I'll hold out for Spurrier.I also think the only way Fulmer goes is finishing 500 with one of the loses being Vanderbilt. Other than that Chavis will be gone and Fulmer remains.Fulmer is the architect of buying time it appears.

Carroll's the best.
Davis right behind.
Then Gruden.
Kiffin.

That's assuming reality need not be factored in.

I think the next coach to leave will be Coach Fulmer. I think it is past the "fire a cordinator get me one more year". Also the problems this year are on the offensive side. It's hard to fire someone you just hired and blame him for awful year. Change is coming.

The Pete Carroll thing alone proves the post is just some idiot running off at the mouth. He has probably the best coaching job in the country, makes plenty of dough and the place sells itself to recruits. Why on Earth would he move from LA to Knoxville over stadium upgrades!?

Absurd.

Maybe for the opportunity to compete against the best coaches in the best conference in the country. Pete has won how many NC's?...and Nick Saban is on the cover of Fortune??? I think Pete would strongly consider coaching in the SEC.

If Carroll came to UT, and college football sticks with the two team playoff for the NC, there's no question that the SEC champ should be one of the two teams irrespective of their overall record or path to get there.

I would love to see Butch Davis in orange. I heard he's making $1.5 per year at UNC. If we came in and offered $3 mill, how could he say no? Double the salary, double the recruiting the budget, double the prestige...maybe.

However, past alleged recruiting transgressions make me think the powers that be may shy away from Butch.

Sorry, but the SEC doesn't have the pull that Notre Dame does.

I don't. For some reason I don't see him recruiting well. Must be my predisposition to dislike slobber.

He's unlike the others in being proven in the League. His skills fit well there, so if he comes back, he's the hardest of all to imagine coming to UT, for me. I'd see him going back to the NFL for major $$.

Davis is proven in the college game and that's a lot of what I like about him as well.

Caroll would recruit beyond any level we've ever seen and we once were great in recruiting.

Some one said that Saban and Carrol dislike each other. Why is that? Sorry if I'm not in the know.

I think Caroll would recruit well but I don't believe he would have as much success here as the classes he brings to USC. There are alot more schools around here that play real football. He basicly has the whole west coast to pick and choose from now.

That being said I would love to see Pete Caroll in orange and white. But the reality of it is it aint going to happen.

I love the SEC, but take nothing from his USC teams. They are real.
