This is kind of where I'm at. Field storming across college football happens too often, it doesn't feel organic which is what made 22 so special.
But if the kids storm the field, so be it. I'll keep my old ass in the stands with the other elder Millennials and watch the spectacle.
You hit it squarely on the head here - storming the field needs to be done in the context of the moment.
I mean in 2022 you could feel something special was happening, even through the television and radio broadcast...like you said, truly organic.
That said, I think there should be criteria for when to storm the field:
- Is it a regular rival, or foe, that you have been losing to consistently in the last decade or more (for UGA, yes)
- Has the game been well played and close in the 4th quarter (if we are up by 2 scores and laying the wood to them in the 4th, then let's be classy and not storm)
- Do we win on a last second TD or FG (see bullet 2 above)
- Is the atmosphere in the stadium such that storming is warranted (see organic and the previous points)
Hit those marks and yes, by all means, storm the field, have a good time, enjoy, celebrate, help Danny White pay the fine later.
Otherwise, let's be classy and show some respect as well good sportsmanship and celebrate the win elsewhere.
